What do we have here? ;-)

Started the Joey Mod tonight. What a pain in the ass. First of all, don't say 'use an oven'. It doesn't work. These lights are put together completely different from Neon lights (who woulda thought?). I have to use a heat gun (or hair dryer...) and actually bend the black plastic, then dig under the clear part to loosen it from the black piece. It took me about 4 hours to get this one light apart. I'm hoping the next light will be easier. Luckily, I have an entire week to do this in.

Updates later. Wish me, and my bloody hands, good luck.

Finished separating the headlights last night. 4 hours for each headlight; Sheesh. Broke the hair dryer twice also in the process. :-P Tonight I'm gonna start sanding and priming. Still trying to decide if I should paint the sides of the projector covers (the chrome pieces around the lights) or just leave them completely chrome.

Ordered the lower valance today also. Having a friend with a dealer discount really helps. :-) Should come out to only a total of $72. Hopefully it will be here in a couple days but, if it comes too late into the week, it'll just have to wait since I'll need my car. :-|

Updates later.

Nope, they'll deliver it too him, and then since I work with his mom, she'll bring it into work to give it to me.

Finished the 'Joey Mod' tonight. For all you people who weren't paying attention:

'Joey Mod' - Taking apart the headlights, taking out the amber reflectors, and blacking out the chrome strip along the bottom of the light.

I started this process on Sunday afternoon. It took a VERY long time to take apart the headlights since you are NOT able to just put them in the oven; you must use a hair dryer and screw driver.

This is the amount of glue you will find in the headlight:

Anyways, got them apart and the next day got to sanding and priming the chrome strips:

Next day I painted the chrome strips black and also decided to paint the turn signal housings as well:

Then, the next day, I started to put the lights back together and seal them:

And tonight, after letting them sit for a day to cure the glue this is their final look with the bulbs:

And, after freezing my ass off to get them on the car, I was able to snap one picture before the batteries just completely died from the cold:

And an old picture for reference:

Also got this from my friend today: :-D

Now I just need to paint it and mount it on the car. :-D

Tell me what you guys think!

Thanks, Crystal! :-D

Looks exactly like this:

But, since I'm going to be matching it to my lower gray panels, it'll look more like this:

I'm going to be matching it to the lower gray panels. A little back story on the lip:

I had one of my buddies, who works at a junkyard, look for this lip for me. It's a factory lip that comes on the 'Ultrasport' trim and sells for ~$270 new, primered. My friend was able to find me this lip, which is brand new, from an Audi dealer close by for $100. The reason it's silver is because the dealer had it special ordered, and painted for another customer, until something fell through on the deal and they got stuck with it. All I really need to do is sand off the clear, since the paint adhesives are REALLY strong on this lip, and paint it the flat gray trim color. So for $100 NEW, I call that a steal.

BTW, I'll be taking some more pictures of the lights, when I get home from work, tonight. I still have to adjust them a little since they're a bit off.

Those head lights turned out great!!! Black housing lights FTW. Now can you get moar pics of the painted headlights? Pretty please?

That front lip is going to look awesome. Rustoleum it?

Lol. Thanks, Tam. I'll take more pictures when I get home tonight. It was so cold last night that the camera batteries actually would just die as soon as I turned the camera on.

No Rustoleum for the lip :-( I don't think I could match the gray trim easily with any of the Rustoleum colors.

They've finally stopped gushing. The biggest cut is right in the middle of my palm, so it re-opens everytime I do anything. I guess this is just Audi's way of telling me to back off.

Thanks Frank! :-D
