That last shot is scary. Makes your car looks evil as hell. Very cool. Love what you did with the stock radio too.

I might have to try that.

The reason you never read that Carsten is that most people use different harnesses for OEM kits (i.e. an OEM harness) so that doesn't happen. They look great though

Looks good! What did you do to completely resolve the opening in the back? You had a mighty big hole to fill back there

The lens is way smaller in the middle, so i made a plastic sheet in the right shape to cover the big hole (with a gap that the lens can move for adjustment)...
Not perfect but it works very well.
Will see how the light looks in one year to tell if i failed or not.
Only problem: I have no horn at the moment. the ballasts sit between foglight and the big frame.
The HID-kit-ballast was small enough to share the part with the horn bracket. But the VW ballast isn't. And i had no time yesterday to bend a new bracket....
And yes - here in Berlin you are lost w/o a horn. Beat my steering wheel yesterday in two situations when blind idiots changed the lane....
(And yes i thought that i pushed the wrong button on the remote cause i missed the horn signal...)

That is always the true test. Hopefully it endures the season!

You wanna have eyelids?
You are bored from the short- or s-style?
Wanna create your own unique idea?
But you don't wanna fiberglass?
No problem - a vacuum table is your best buddie for that!
You can take your headlight lense as template and make your own eyelid.
Sure - it is way too big now.
But THAT is the trick - you can cut it now with a sharp knife to every style you like!
(Haha - please don't do it while it sits on the lense....)
Just paint and install it with double side tape and that's it!!!

Looks good.. i think they are a little big though.. How well do they match up with the body lines of the car ie: Hood and bumper/fender gaps

by Jenni
THAT is the trick!!!
They have to be too big that i can cut them later in every style that i wanna have.
So they will absolutely much to the hood or fender gap - and even 1" deeper.
Hmmm, looks like i have to grab my jacket, go outside and make an "installed" picture....

haha - i could also make a complete cover...
Okay guys, and now re-read please:
THAT IS JUST THE RAW FORM.
Now i can cut it in s-style or modified s-style, like i wanna.
Or like YOU like. It is an offer for everyone here to have unique eyelids!

That's a damn awesome idea! I do like the custom deal, good job!

^^ ah you understand it. i could kiss you.
*sends e-hug*
Hmmm, okay, i think that should help to understand my idea:
The golden line is the old known s-style.
But let's assume that i wanna have another shape, maybe for MPx projectors - so i can cut them like i wanna have it....
(that is just an overdone example)
Yeah - and if you like the old s-style i have another point for you: my idea is cheaper than fiberglass....

Oh, it's very easy to understand if you actually read your post about it. Some people tho... reading fails them.
Are you looking to make these for others, or just presenting an idea for them to make their own? I don't know a whole lot of us who have a spare headlight lens laying around.

the plan is - to offer exactly that for others.
So i make the raw form and the customer makes the cut for the shape...
Material is 1mm plastic (hmmm 1/32"???)
I think $20 for a set would be a decent price. My problem is the shipping - what would be another $20...

Ouch, yes that would be a killer shipping price...
But how much do the FG ones go for? It seems that even at 40 dollars shipped these would be cheaper?

no I like the stoner style eyelids how much would charge to make a pair

from cbd they're about 70, ive seen some fg on ebay for around 50 though. You wouldn't happen to have a base model hood over there would you? despite the fact that i provide pictures, people still dont believe me when i say srt eyelids have a gap on a base model.
Posted: Fri Feb 19, 2010 11:36 am
by LilSparkPlug
I believe you, I have SRT eyelids on my SXT and tried to eliminate the gap by mounting them a bit differently, but it is there.

hmmm, they are made for 2003+
i hope i can find soon a set 2000+ lenses to make eyelids therefor.
The shape of the hood is the same but the headlight lense is somehow different.
hmmm, i am no vendor here so i cannot offer groupbuy or such.
(you know - make 20 sets and send to one of you - but that would make the shipment cheaper but the customs would grab in my wallet)
CBD are 79$ plus shipping.

Well, what you could do is set up vendor status (if you're interested) and make up a bunch, 20 or so for example and send them to one person here in the states who could distribute them.
It'd have to be someone you could trust, obviously, but that's one way to save on shipping costs.

What makes the difference isn't the headlamp, but the hood. 2003-2005 SX and SRT use the same headlamp, but the SRT hood does not angle down at the front like the SX hood does. The SX hood is the same from 2000-2005, but the shape of the headlamps is slightly different from 2003-2005 then 2000-2002.
The gap is worse when you have 02 headlamps like above

yes i know. therefor i plan to make a special "2000" edition - even if the 2003+ eyelids would fit somehow. But somehow is not good enough....
Just need a set old and ugly headlights (or just the lenses)....
