Doyle09 ... New tires, 5/12

Well since everybodys got one figured i would play. Bought the car already swapped out of Downers Grove Illinois in August of 2009 with 52000 ish miles on it. This is how it sat when i got it. Bone stock except for a mopar blue plate and a CAI
Image
Image
Started off with a few cheap things because i'm broke. Had a show in on of the neighboring small towns so i quick painted the valve cover and CAI chrome high heat. That looked cheezy as hell.
Image
Then I painted them red. looks better but i'm not happy with it. i just kinda threw it together and didn't take my time. Engine bay needs a good bath. its on my list
Image

Swapped out the stock overflow tank for a universal autozone one relocated to under the headlight

Today i set out to get my new headlights in. Mine had broken tabs and one has some spider cracks in them. Picked up some lights with vinyl eyelids for really cheap. after screwing around with the broken headlight bolts for an hour i got them in.
Image
Image
Also planned on taking off my door trim today but i ran into a problem. Took the driver side door molding off and in between where the double sided tape was the paint looks milky. Its no sticky and it dosn't have a texture. tried to get a good picture of it but its hard to get it to show. If you follow the molding from the back door you can see it across the driver door. anyone have suggestions for how to fix this? I want to find a fix for it because it looks alot better with no molding

and the most important mod of all!!

New Brakes

Well i heard some grinding today coming from my passenger front so i popped my wheel off to find this.

I knew the rotors where shit (grooved) they were like that when i bought the car, but the pads were newer so i figured i would wait until the pads were bad to replace the rotors since the pads would be grooved also.

Well that didn't happen, I'm thinking one of the pads fell off but I'm not really sure. Lets just say I'm embarrassed by my own brakes

So i replaced them with ceramic pads and new rotors. I couldn't get drilled from weaver so i just threw regular rotors on. Thinking about upgrading brakes this summer

Headlight bolts came in today, so i got those put in.

went around to a couple body shops today and they say its primer either from a repaint or they put the molding on to soon from factory, either way i would need a repaint for it to look right. kinda sucks, moldings staying on now i guess. Snapped a few pictures so i thought i would share

o i have had a REALLY and i mean REALLY annoying squeak in my trunk since i bought the car. I original thought it was the strut, so i replaced it. That didn't fix my problem so i investigated further today and i found my strut mount is el fubared. So heres where the fun starts. I had a very big suspicion that the mount was the problem so i called weaver (in cross plains, five minutes away) to make sure they had it before i ripped it apart. I couldn't get my whole car in the shed and with the storm coming i didn't want to leave my car half out of the shed and door open all night....so anyway Cross Plains didn't have it but they had it in Madison (half hour away with good traffic). So i called Madison to make sure and they had it, they did. Tore it apart and headed to Madison. Got there and it was the wrong one. No other weaver had it but he called carquest and they said they had it. He said they close at 7. Got there at 6:45 and doors were locked, lights were off. So now I'm pissed. Well since i already wasted 45 mins driving into and around Madison i figured i would check out the other auto stores on the way home, Advanced and Oriely. Nothing. After the last store i checked my dad calls me bitching because his shed is open, i tell him i'm on my way to put my car back together and get it closed. well you know how dads are he bitched for ten minutes until i hung up on him. Finally get back to my parents to put it back together and as soon as i get out of the truck my roomate calls and tells me my freaking bathroom is flooded. GREAT!! Deal with that, went back to the parents got the car back together and in the shed. So thats my rant for the day. Wasn't very happy. Didn't get any pictures of the mount but i will when i get the new one. if i can find the damn thing. Only thing productive i got done was panted my shorty antenna.

Strut mounts are put on hold until tomorrow i guess

YAY!!

Really happy with the solid mounts, vibrations aren't as bad as i was expecting them to be. can feel it at idle but the feel of the car is much better. Strut bars make a pretty noticeable difference also. And got rain gaurds for my windows. Think i'm taking the car to the track for the first time on saturday (byron illinios) so we'll see how that goes. trying to find axles to barrow before i go, i'm scared of breaking them

Also put in some trunk carpet today. got some badges to put on yet, and new side markers. I'm thinking i'm going to make this look completly stock. So if anyone has an SXT black wing they would want to trade for an SRT wing, let me know[/img]

I think the stock tails look better. And I'll say you probably want to lose the wing. Overall great car! Nice sleeper mode!
