tomfitz's 2000 plymouth neon (new pictures 4/25)

Post by tomfitz » Fri Apr 16, 2010 10:44 am

finally decided to make a progress log so here it is.... the ruhtard stages and the current stage

before any mods wat so ever
Image

Image

mod #1, ugly hub caps
Image

mod #2, steelies with a "chrome" lip and red neon underbody kit and $50 pepboys 3a racing muffler (poopy)
Image
Image
Image

mod #3, white rims
Image

then i was a retarded teenager and bought coilover sleeves therein blowing my struts within like a week... so i got eibach sportlines next time inspection was up

Image

next up was some black halo projectors, debadging and removing the side molding
Image

and most recently, color-matched the mirrors, added my ghetto-modded steelies (soon to be redone) and tinted the tails.. the car currently has no exhaust from cat back but i am getting an srt rear-section for free and i also recieved a transmission from hul kogan which will hopefully go in tonight if my buddy doesnt blow me off again...

Also... I assume the steelies are winter wheels, not something you plan on using all the time?

i havent decided yet... im a poor college student and i plan on taking summer courses plus working full time and lo-pro tires are expensive so i will have to figure that out.. i like the white wheels and if i decide to just leave the steelies on to save money then i am gunna repaint them or have them powder coated so they dont look as poopy

Why not trade the white ones for some 15 or 16 inch stockers? Still look good, and cheap tires.

so i have spent the past two days trying to get my d-bag friends to help me swap the tranny because i have no idea what i am doing, and today a friend came over and basically told me i did all this work for nothing.. supposedly whenever a tranny goes bad the torque converter is soon to go bad and the torque converter might have even been the problem... so fml... now i have to find a way to afford a new torque converter and keep my mom from murdering me because she wont be able to use the garage for her car....

Awesome! tranny swapping is fun, and driving it is even more fun! You'll love it.

Are there any issues that you've ran into yet? I can try to help you out.

Haha, I just got curious about the trans swap so I went looking for a project log and what do I find! Glad to see you're getting closer to having that pig rolling again. Wish I would have known you needed a torque converter, I would have given you one. I just assumed your current one was in good shape and you'd be using that. A bad trans doesn't necessarily mean a bad converter.

Was the trans slipping or requiring a higher rev to start moving from a stop? Either of those would point to a converter on its way out. Either way, not a bad thing to replace since it was all apart anyway.

transmission is being uber-dumb and keeps getting caught on shit... i am too tired and too pissed to work on it tonight so i guess tmw i will be taking off the crossmember so i can just drop out the tranny and maybe get the new one in... and then take an entire day putting everything back together
