no it isnt just the starter now.. the pump in the transmission is shot, i need a new starter, to pass inspection it needs frame work, front end work, body work, and exhaust... i just dont have enough money anymore

it is cool man... idk how much to sell it for... it only has like 58k miles and idk what is wrong with the frame cuz it looks fine and i have never heard anything from anywhere else that i took it.. i really just need to get rid of it. idk if i should save my sound system or sell it with the car.. thatr might get me more money

so now mom is making a huge deal about how the hyundai cost money and she is holding it over my head when i didnt ask for it so i told her to take it back... im hoping i can sell most of the parts on the neon and buy a first gen 5 speed... just want a manual and miss neons

so i went to a car show and chilled with some friends in the park and since the tranny problems are because of the "front pump" as the garage i took it to said, they suggested i take out the pump of the old tranny and swap it into the newer one.. i know it will be hard but i am wondering exactly how much of a PITA it would be

If your going to be messing with swapping out the front pump, you may as well either swap out the entire trani or have someone rebuild the one you want to put the pump in. This is one of those projects that while your in there you may as well do it.
A 3speed overhaul kit is relatively cheap and you could always do the old school mods to beef up the trani for future use while your at it...

scale of one to ten how hard is it to overhaul a transmission... im pretty sure that auto transmissions are a pain in the ass

If you're doing it yourself without someone there to help you... 15 or 16, I'd say.

so i priced some things out and i am going to try and bring the neon back to life... i just wont have any money afterwards... it is about a hundred bucks for a tranny rebuild kit and my buddy knows a guy that rebuilt his transmission for 200 bucks and my buddy didnt even buy a kit, just dropped off his transmission. the sub-frame that goes under the engine needs replaced because of rust and online it is around 200 bucks but i am gunna try and find one at a junk yard for cheaper... and then all thats left is tires... and i have two good steelie tires and two good white rim tires... so i might just rock it obama style... working full time and only making around 400 bucks and only being able to use 200 of it sucks but i will find a way

shitty pay ended my hopefulness and since none of the people that were "interested" in the car never showed up, my mom got fed up and called a scrap yard and they came and picked up the neon and gave her $190 for it... hopefully someone will see the potential and buy it as is without parting it out. so for now no neon... until i get more money and then it is srt time

So... your mom scrapped an otherwise good running car because the trans went poof, leaving you with no car, instead of helping you to get the trans replaced so you could continue making it to work without inconveniencing her?
