Most nitrous issues you see are operator error.

In my case... EVERYtime I race.. I wot shift... well with spray that's a no no and I did good for a while. Then I subconsciously wot shifted once or twice while spraying

Not sure if thats why my car is broke but I doubt it helped it.

I ran a 75 shot on my old SXT for a while... the SRT-4 can handle a 100 shot through the single nozzle easily..

Doin' work son! :)
I bet that front end is back to 4x4 status eh?
So whats the plan with the rebuild? Anything special, or still strapped for cash?

Forgot about this log...

I've been busy lately... working on my best friends Miata and just working period.

I'm waiting on some new piston rings before reassemble. I'll be hitting up the dealer tomorrow..if they're in stock then hopefully the motor will be reassembled tomorrow night and tossed back in next week when I get back from Houston.

If they are not in stock, I'll be ordering some from mopar super center and assembling and reinstalling next week :P

Hopefully it'll be back up and going pretty soon.
Just stock pistons/rods.... new seals/bearings/etc etc..

how much do the rings cost through the dealer?

Posted: Wed Dec 22, 2010 1:53 pm

Around $50 through the dealer and 3-5 day wait supposedly...

Mopar Super Center is $28 plus $9 shipping from SC to me....

Edit: Screw it.. ordered from Mopar Super Center

Motor will be assembled and hopefully installed next week.

Okay, so I realized I haven't updated this in a while.

Since the last update...

I did a home rebuild job.. new rings/bearings/gaskets/etc...etc..

During the rebuild I decided to eliminate the balance shafts.... I gutted housing but got rid of everything else. I read mixed opinions....some said block the oil squirter for them some said keep it if you got the housing. I decided to just keep it...... well apparently if you don't block the oil passage for the BS when you eliminate them, it causes the rest of your motor to not get the proper oil pressure.

I ran it for like 10 minutes and .4 miles like that... long enough to mess something else up.

It has a nasty knock at 2k + rpms.... it idles smooth, drives fine (for the .4 I drove it) and everything, just has a nasty knock.

Well after that happened, I found out I'd be getting the boot and moving back home mid Feb. So I put the car on hold...it ran good enough to drive it on a trailer when I moved home so I said screw it.

Here we are now, I'm staying with the parents until I get a job (still pulling a check until may from the military) and I sourced a motor local to me that has sub 10k miles...oil pan to vc for $750. I am scooping it up this saturday and plan to toss it in the car.

Tonight I started disassembling the motor to get it ready to yank it out.

Hopefully, the motor will be out and MAYBE the new one in this weekend. We shall see....

I also got a DSP by trading some of the spare heads I had (from buying that guys storage unit).... I won't upload a tune until I get a wideband... so yea =/

Anyone in the area wanna buy my old motor setup? I doubt it'll take much money to get it rebuilt... I'd toss some new rods/pistons in it ($300ish from Modern) and everything else should be good.

A keeper that isn't running right.

I really hope you get things figured out, John.

All caused by me though =/

Would of been perfect after the rebuild if I would have

A. Left the BS assembly alone
B. Plugged the oil passage for it

Goal is to have the old motor out / new one in before the end of the weekend.

I've heard the only reason to get rid of the BS assembly is if you are running serious power; like 400+.

I didn't want to risk a chain fkn up my new motor... most say 400+, some say they have had them break in the 300s.

I figured while I was there, I'd remove em...

:banghead:

If the new motor has em, I'll keep them... as the plans for this car is to be a fun daily. I want to get something to just beat on and if it breaks, I won't have to worry as I have my little turbo daily.

Mine just had the chain cut or removed according to the guy I bought it off of. He had a shop do it.

Everything is disconnected and ready for me to get a hoist tomorrow and yank this motor.

I'm suppose to go get the new motor tomorrow as well.

So who knows.. if all goes okay, it could be running tomorrow... we shall see.

Dude with the motor has texted me off and on today.... "we will meet up later today" blah blah blah blah..... I don't know when or if we are even going to meet up... but here is some progress for sean.

The sticker was already on the hoist (borrowing it) but it seemed very appropriate :)
