he has had a frame machine and can get ahold of one at any time. but when you dont have one you learn to improvise. just because its not the way most people do it doesnt mean its wrong. if you would have went to vo tech for collision repair, they actually tell you about how you can use trees. and btw im using a backhoe to straighten mineTheRandom1 wrote:Your father isn't using a frame machine and hasn't been for 30 years? You went to a school that told you half-assing and using wrong equipment is an acceptable way to repair a car? Did they tell you that JB weld is an OK alternative to actually welding in your front end as well?
I understand time on a frame machine is expensive, but if you can't afford to do it right, buy a car without front end damage. It's very simple.

I'm not bombing your thread with useless shit, I'm telling you that you're using wrong tools to do a VERY IMPORTANT job. Do you use a screwdriver as a hammer? Or grill cleaning brush to comb your hair? Shampoo to wash your body? No? Then why use a backhoe to stretch your car out when you have FREE ACCESS to a frame machine?
Telling people it's OK to half ass their shit like this is going to get people killed when they try it too.

My opinion matters. Every car we had has had frame damage.my car was so bad we couldn't get it straight here, had to take it to workb to use the laser system.
You will probably never be spot on. You under pull then over pull. Everytime you pull it back and forth weakens it more.
Before we had this frame machine dad found one to use.. Didn't use anything else.
By your measure we could fix anything with a chain hammer and a tree.
You may get it close but it will never be spot on. It probably won't make alignment. And will drive down the road crooked.

I have an associates degree in autobody/mechanics but during my frame classes was actually never taught that. Interesting concept. I've worked at body shops where the tards couldn't get stuff close enough to bolt the bumper back on WITH a frame machine. Best of luckXxWhiteNeonxX wrote: if you would have went to vo tech for collision repair, they actually tell you about how you can use trees.

well when my father was younger he couldnt afford a frame machine when he started doing rebuildables so he used any means nessacery. he has used trees and got cars perfectly straight. im not saying its the correct way to do it but if it gets the job done and saves me money then i dont careLilSparkPlug wrote:I have an associates degree in autobody/mechanics but during my frame classes was actually never taught that. I didnt put them on, that's what the car had when i bought it. Trust me, they're trash, and make it sound like shit, but an exhaust is the last of my worries atm.XxWhiteNeonxX wrote:you really need to get rid of the dual fart cansit makes the car look like back to the future
Did you use a special bit for drilling out spot welds? I read somewhere there's a special bit. Just wondering if it makes any difference.

this way will work but, if you can get ahold of the correct bit it will make it alot easierTheRandom1 wrote:You don't have to use the bit though, a regular drill bit will work just fine. Add some tape to the end of the bit so you don't go all the way through the sheet metal.
