I'm glad I graced your thoughts as you stared at your sexy suspension parts. Just kiddingMidnight_Rider wrote:^^My apologies as you did cross my mind when I was standing there, camera in hand, but I think that my mechanic asked me something about then and I lost focus. I will myself for you.
I already know that everyone at Carlisle is gonna pounce on me ("The stance is the same!") but I'm going to let it stay stock height for now and maybe, after a while, I'll get over myself and do some experimentation.

^^Oh, you were being discussed. My mechanic thinks that he might have met you, especially after I described your SRT to him.
Car goes to Ziebart in seven hours, the last prep for Carlisle (other than my detailing efforts on the 5th and 6th prior to the drive out).

Really? You'll have to PM me about this so I don't clutter up your log.Midnight_Rider wrote:^^Oh, you were being discussed. My mechanic thinks that he might have met you, especially after I described your SRT to him.

Thanks, that does make me feel better. My mechanic gave me a ballpark for new tie rods so I think that I'll just go ahead and replace them next year.Danteneon wrote:Don't feel bad about the tie rod David. My passenger side one is frozen too. Strange, seeing that the rack is two years old
I lied- car goes back to Ziebart on Wednesday for one last surprise before Carlisle.Midnight_Rider wrote:Car goes to Ziebart in seven hours, the last prep for Carlisle...

A clear plastic film that helps to prevent stone chips. Kind of like a clear bra.TheRandom1 wrote:Clearshield film?

Sorry, my bad- I was being sarcastic since no one had asked what last-minute "mod" I had done at Ziebart. Everything looks okay, the only problem is that they wanted me to leave the car in the sunshine for a day to allow the product to cure and I can't do that in my neighborhood (the car stays in the garage all of the time to prevent possible vandalism while I am at work).LilSparkPlug wrote:Did they not apply it right?

I hadn't planned to spend the cash for this but the manager gave me a price that I couldn't pass up (half of what I was quoted back in 2007). Really should have had this done right after I got the car back from the body shop last year though.

The weatherstripping was twisted up in places when I bought the car (it had developed a "memory") so has never "sit" right and has now started to harden (pre-dry rot?). Back to Black really didn't do much for the window mouldings today and the rubber on the driver's door one has begun to rip (I already have a replacement for that door and had planned to have in installed before Carlisle but never got around to it).LilSparkPlug wrote:Why does it need to be replaced?

^^Looks like I'll have to look into your heat gun suggestion. I think the weatherstripping problem harkens back to the to the almost eight months the car sat outside on the dealer's lot before I bought it.
New mod at Carlisle- BRR installed a glove box lock for me!

Nope should take you less than 10 minutes to install.Midnight_Rider wrote:Are the front and rear Mopar strut bars difficult to install? No guarantees that I will have the cash to buy them this year but want to be prepared in case I get some unexpected overtime.

When/if I buy an SRT4 my mods will be similar; focused on preservation.

Actually, no. Guess that I'll have to borrow some tools.Canada wrote:Do you have access to a 1/4" ratchet and 13mm socket?
I would like to think so but some may debate that.Canada wrote:Do you have the strength of an 11 year old girl?

David, we've never had any dealings before, business or otherwise, but, after being curious and reading your project log, I thought I'd like to help you with a particular mod that you mentioned, the "Hurst" shifter.
If you send me $70 and your stock shifter, I'll send you back something I think you'll like, which will also satisfy your desire for that old-muscle-car-look
Shoot me a PM if it sounds like something you might be interested in...
