So, the MPX bracket in original form, ignore the notch, it's how I got it...

The bracket is a little cozier with the water pump, but does not make contact.

So now it decided to start leaking on the exhaust cam seal. So much for putting new seals in.

Yay, now I have to fix that, plus finish fixing the neglect the '99 300M has we just got for our daughter before heading north in 5 days. :banghead:

Sadly, it will have to wait a few days. Our hardware stores around here don't carry jack for metric, plus I will have to work over tomorrow, so I won't have time to mess with it tomorrow.

I ordered some bolts from Mc Master, since it will probably be faster, by the time I find time drive to a real hardware. :cussing:

I think most hardware stores are still stuck in the 1960's when it comes to fasteners. Plus most charge 6 times as much for the metric stuff.

We have the same problem around here, the only place I can pick up anything metric is fastenal or Menards. Having to go to fastenal means buying in bulk (usually) and Menards is almost an hour drive even though their distribution center is a stones throw from my house.

OK, did a little test fitting today. Since my decent camera decided to show it's Made in China qualities, you get crappy cell phone pics.

Driver seat is 2nd gen, passenger is Cross Fire.

Image

The Cross Fire seats sit quite a bit lower than the neon seats. I'm gonna have to revise my adapters to raise these things. I feel like a little kid trying to reach the armrest.

These are fairly heavy compared to the neon seats also. You know you are picking up a piece of furniture when handling these. They are built pretty substantially compared to neon seats.

You are definitely held in place with the side bolsters sticking out farther. Just sitting in it without the car moving, you feel like you are stuck in place. These are a lot firmer also.

The driver seat is also a suspension seat. Ought to be interesting.

If you don't mind me asking how large are you? I want SRT SRS leathers, but there's a crossfire with leathers in the local yard. I'm just wondering cause I'm size 38 and wondering if these would be a viable option for me

Well, remember that these were made by Daimler for Mercedes (the Crossfire is essentially a Mercedes coupe badged as a Chrysler).

I think these would work for you. I wear a size 34 waist, so you aren't much bigger than me. I have seen larger folk than us driving these.

I have to admit after sitting in it for a few, being cradled is going to take a little getting used to. These would be awesome for autocross, except for the added weight factor.

Gramps, I'll have to look again on the underside, there is a manufacturer name on them, and it isn't Daimler or Mercedes.

I believe it was the SLK platform?

Oops, maybe I should have phrased it better- Daimler had them manufactured for Mercedes vehicles. I think that the Mercedes you pictured is probably the more expensive "twin" for the Crossfire or very similar (think of Ford and Mercury twins, same kind of thing).

Installed

Height adjustment, Driver seat only.

They do need a good shampoo.

Still getting used to them. The cushions actually have compression and rebound when you hit bumps, plus the driver seat has two coil springs in the rear.

Oh yeah, almost forgot: These are made by Lear Corporation

Anyone that wants to sit in them is more than welcome.

Kind of wish they had "Chrysler", or "Cross Fire" embroidered into the backs. But meh, I guess a low profile might be a good thing.

Would be worth it to see a Cross Fire owner do a double take walking past it. But they probably wouldn't even look past the exterior, if they even noticed the car at all.

It's amazing what a difference good seats make ... my 1st gen R/T was far more comfortable than a regular Highlines. SRT "airbag" seats made the 2gn SXT even more comfortable ...
Congratulations on getting the "Crossfire" inspiration
