I'll be back in the 2g game this weekend

Total neon's owned to date: 5 1st Gen, and now 3 2nd Gen

Picking up a buddies 2g + all his neon stuff for a steal (too good to pass up). Motor ran at one point but might have ingested water and its an automatic, but the body is solid (aside from 03 headlights badly squeezed into an 02 bumper).

Haven't entirely decided the plan, but I'm definitely swapping to manual, and either make her an R/T or swap in a DOHC.

Been bored lately (my 1g project is stuck in "needs to be tuned land"), and with 3 off days a week I'll have plenty of time to mess around with the new car. I've missed working on a neon and it'll be fun to build up another car and have a backup car for whenever the Subaru needs work.

I'll post pictures of the mess as soon as its in my possession.

since i traded in my 02 r/t for the caliber (back in 2008) i sorta stayed away from all things 2g, but im back now

Well Welcome back

It's a 2011 WRX. I sold my 08 EVO X last April and bought it. Needed something with more room since I own a house and it was impossible to get anything in the EVO and a little better on gas now that I work 53 miles away from home. I miss the Raw ability of the EVO but the WRX is still really fun to drive and is a surprisingly adept performance car.

never stopped working on the 1gn, just got to a point where i couldnt do anymore until its tuned, and MS is surprisingly way over my head

With the car I got a ton of parts including a magnum head/cam/intake/header

started to gut all the junk stuff, including rear bumper and trunk carpet.

^^ yeah, prolly gonna go with a SRT intake manifold. I just really hate how the 2.0 DOHC intake looks plus the 90, and how crappy it looks without the 90. But a DOHC (2.0/2.4) w/ a Magnum intake would look pretty rad

Ran to the junkyard today and had a most excellent day. Snagged 3 MINT trunk lid carpets, almost mint floor carpet (had to yank the dash since i forget a knife..), 2g center console (looked decent covered in dirt, cleaned it up when i got home and its got stress marks

but it doesnt have switch holes all over it like the one that came with the car), cd changer trim piece and a R/T cluster w/ 76k (and appears to work!), someone swapped it into a 01 ATX. All for $40~

Went to the junkyard today (a different one than last time), snagged a 03+ steering wheel, found 2 boogers, and a PT traction/12v cubby, Originally had one from a 02 neon, but the PT one is the same except it has 2 spots for switches

.. Steering wheel was $7.. screw you eBay! Almost bought one on eBay for $35+shipping

Also I won a 04 SRT Cluster on eBay for $25+$9. I actually bid on this same one last week but lost, seller sent me a 2nd chance offer which I never actually got (email went to spam apparently) so they relisted it. Good thing too cause i got it cheaper this time around

Finally have an idea of what i'm gonna do for the motor. its top secret tho

it'll be a 2.4 but thats all i'm gonna say.

went to the junkyard with a buddy to pull a hydro trans for him, got a mtx mount and the rest of the hydro parts i needed. now to keep an eye out for a 01 2.4

i totally missed your reply.. yeah my 1g MS project is stuck.. cant get the SRT IAC working properly but ive been told i might need that PWM Multiplier board. Messed any with the SRT PWM IAC? Once i can get it to idle i can start to monkey with tuning the rest.

Picked up another 02 R/T engine harness today along with the R/T front body harness, also got the trunk carpet (minus the sound deadener pieces.. grr) and also finally (took alot of work to get the guy on CL to just sell me the harness) R/T dash harness, gives me the option for power locks/keyless and i already have a RKE module and fob, just need the power locks and door wiring.

So now i can fully convert it to a manual (wiring wise) without doing any soldering ;D But I will have to go over the harnesses and reloom/replace broken connectors.
