LowNSlow's 2014 Mustang GT: A Slow Build
LowNSlow's 2014 Mustang GT: A Slow Build
Went out on 4/20 and bought myself a new Mustang GT 5.0.
I've been wanting one since they came out and I am finally able to comfortably afford it.
Figured I'd make a progress log for it as I do things to it or just take new pictures, I'll post them here.
Literally drove from the dealership to the track and hot lapped it.
Ran 12.9 @ 112 with a strong head wind.... 12.6-12.7s are there as is.
At the dealership cheesing before I leave
Getting tech'd at the track...
Put 200 + miles on it the first day + track time = must fuel up to go home
A picture of it in my driveway the next day:
The following Monday... got it tinted.
I drive 99% highway to work.... so this is after a hour drive to work.
Cleaned her up yesterday
And then today... painted the faux gas cap on the rear...and replaced the chrome 5.0 badges

I completely agree so on that note...C1DoG wrote:Ok there should be penalty for posting a Ford in a Dodge forum

Stock little 235s.....eviltucson wrote:what tires are you running at the track for those numbers? do you have slicks? whats your 60ft times.... that is great times for a stock mustang.
Stock everything minus the GT500 axle back which has been said to be no gain in power, just noise.
The record for a stock 5.0 was a 12.2 I think...but must have had a great tail wind or something. I've seen a few 12.5s but 12.6 is pretty quick for stock.
I'll be ordering an off-road H pipe and tune in a few days... which has been proven to show gains of around 20hp or so.
After that, I'll be doing some big/littles with DRs.
Does the automatic have the same driveshaft issues that the manuals have?
So many neons so little time.

Since the last update, I've done the mail order tune and off road H pipe.
Mods: Off Road H Pipe, Mail Order Tune
Stock tires, 33psi of air... full weight, etc....
Ran 10 times... I think 8 of them were 12.4 @ 115 and a couple 12.5s....
Launching off idle, if I try to stall it up it spins and gets a worse 60.
Consistent 2.0 60s... I think better weather and some DRs, it'd be in the 11s. (assuming I can get 1.6-1.7 60s)

Such a sick car. So it is an AUTO correct? Looks like its getting a lot of drag time. I know with your previous Mustang you were at the track quite a bit. That was a quick stang too. Just stock the new AUTO 5.0's are very impressive the motors and transmissions can handle quite a bit of power.

The auto is actually VERY fun to drive (coming from an all manual kind of guy)... you can put it in Sport mode and it works out pretty good if you choose.
I track it a lot, plus..
1. It's faster and more consistent
2. It's STRONGER than the 6 speed manuals in these cars. A lot of folks are having issues with their manual trannys
3. I drive 55 miles one way to work in Houston traffic, auto is nice.

Ordered side marker tint overlays and CDC upper grill with a roush lower grill.
Installed the tint and upper grill tonight.
Looks mean IMO....itll look 10X better with the lower grill delete installed to match.
This is what the lower grill delete looks like....
Next on the list is to lower it about 1.5" and some wheels... then that's it for visual mods. All power from here on out.
Yep, replicas, oh well
