After dealing with all the bullshit of my "turbo R/T" I decided it would be a lot easier to just buy an SRT. I know, I know.. now I'm just like every other SRT owner out there. At this point I don't care.

I thought about it, and instead of spending a good amount of money on an almost perfect SRT, I decided to pick up one a little more affordable that was in need of some love. I can build / work on it over time and bring it to where I want.

I went to look at it today, decided to buy it. I will have it in my driveway tomorrow, I've set up insurance that will start tomorrow, and it will be registered in my name on Monday :D. The best part is that this is $84 a month ($1008 a year) cheaper on insurance than what I currently pay for my R/T. WIN WIN WIN

I only have one picture as of right now, but I will definitely be taking more when I get it.

2005 Dodge Neon SRT4

175xxx km / 109xxx miles

Here's a list of recent maintenance:
- Head gasket/top end gasket set June 2013
- Timing belt, water pump, tensioner etc done april 2012
- Thermostat april 2012
- Tie rods december 2012
- New turbo gaskets/crush washers
- ACT HDSS clutch installed with new master and slave cylinders, clutch fork, pivot ball, braided stainless line december 2012
- TPS, IAC, sensors and wiring repair kits done
- New upstream o2 sensor

It was owned by a well known, local neon guy. That's the only reason I decided to buy a "cheap" SRT. It was once big turbo, but now put to pretty much stock.

Mod list:
- Mopar/borla catback exhaust
- Booger shifter bushings
- Hondata headshield intake gasket
- Solid engine mounts
- Injen short ram intake
- Lowered on eibach springs with tokico struts
- Depo LED tail lights
- Halo LED headlights

I'll be swapping over a few things from my car (acr seats, BC's, etc.)

Started swapping stuff over from the R/T. Nothing major, was feeling lazy + father's day. Parents weren't too happy to see the new purchase when they got back home from being away for the weekend... SURPRISE!

Did some interior stuff

- Headliner (blacked out)
- pillars (blacked out)
- dash (ones in better shape than the other)

Still need to paint the "OH SHIT" handles in the SRT, didn't do the best job on the R/T ones.

This week I will be swapping the seats over, and probably the double din, amp, sub, speakers. I may get to the coilovers, we'll see how much time I get. Need to get this registered tomorrow, and then I'll have 10 days to get it safetied/certified and etested. I don't see it needing anything for safety, and we'll see how etest goes... new laws/rules on it for 2013 and it's just stupid.

Congrats! Those stockers in white look sick.

Not sure how insurance on a SRT-4 is cheaper then a R/T, but thats cool, unless you went to liability on the SRT or something.

Mine also went down by $100 somehow when i sold my 05 neon and bought the Stage 3 03 and it has nothing to do with age because they're on a policy in my parents names

On my lunch today I went and registered the car :D then went home and got in it just so I could drive it home after work. It feels nice to have a car in MY OWN name for once.

Started swapping over my double din and gauges (they aren't wired up though). Also, relocated the front license plate.

somehow lost two sets of bolts/nuts, gotta go pick up another pair. Can't get them to fit in the bottom left corner, so just gonna have a ziptie hold it together.

I fucking love the 2.4! what a difference

Just another night swapping everything over... this is gonna take a while. Plus, the R/T looks terrible, torn it apart and haven't put anything together.

Swapped over ACR seats, centre console, Mopar STS, leather boot, MPx knob, and the hood.

Shitty phone pics ftw!

There's too much gap on the drivers side :( couldn't get it any better

I just like having two neons in the driveway, idk why..

Am I missing something here- shouldn't the km markings on your speedo be predominant? Yours looks just like mine (MPH markings are larger).

This was originally a US car, so it's in miles. Canadian clusters are hard to find, and stupid expensive compared to US ones.
jckevns wrote:Were u cruising with the ebrake on
No, that's because of the abs module
INVUJerry wrote:Gonna put the silverstones on the RT?
no, staying on the RT.. so will most likely be scrapped

Oh, well that sucks, you're just gonna scrap the RT? Not even keep it as a winter beater?

Strip it down to just a shell then scrap it. Need the money for the SRT.

When/if you see the srt, you'll realize it is a winter beater LOL

Aha, I finally got something right. How are you doing the DRL's then? I've always wanted a CAD cluster for my SRT so that I could have DRL's.

He probably turns them on manually lol.

I've got a BUX cluster gramps! It's not an SRT one :/ but if you're nice I'll GIVE IT TO YOU at Carlisle. If you wanted, I mean.

I haven't even checked if it has drl's.......................... OOPS

The car has been in Canada since '07 according to the buyer's package. Also, when you import a US car here you need to have a list of things done, drl's being one of them. My dad has a '97 Z28 that he bought from Florida, he had to go through this.

Yeah I didn't want to admit it when I got my SRT how awesome the 2.4 was. Want to pass on the highway? Put your foot down a hair. It's a huge difference.

I still want another built sohc 2.0 though.

You know the 2.4 is awesome even n/a

yeah I'm liking the 2.4 so much more. Much more fun to play on the roads, tap the gas and hit 5lbs instantly.

I do not have DRL's, checked tonight.

swapped over almost everything from the R/T (minus the coilovers and wiring for the gauges).

Aww, that's generous of you but I'll bet that you could get a few bucks for it and make someone with a non-SRT pretty happy.

That's one of the reasons why I bought a DRL module for my 1GN (I was looking into emigrating to Canada back in the mid-90's). Sad thing is that no one seemed to know how to hook it up, not even a technician that I spoke with at a suburban Toronto Chrysler dealership.

Nice car!

P.s. Don't scrap the R/T. Sell it to someone cheap so the car can live on.

The R/T is actually sold! To a member on this forum (he's not really active here).

Brought the car to get safetied/certified yesterday
