3mm spacers up front keep the tires off of the coils. They rubbed without them. I don't love spacers, but they're a necessary evil in this case.

et35 on the rpf1's? I know of a guy running 17x8 et 35's on 245/40/17 with no rub or spacers on BC coilovers. Not sure why your tire is hitting the coilover. I am running 235/45/17 with no spacers same suspension and wheel setup. Makes me want to see how much space I have. You could be running more camber then I am up front. I am running ACR alignment specs

Yeah, 35mm offset. I know it's weird, but it happened on both the R/T and this chassis. I have the plates set up to negative one on both front and back to avoid rubbing. Only the fronts are close to the coils.

Hey I like them calipers in red. Mine are in need of a touch up. I never did them before, someone way back when did them in red. But what paint did you use on yours..?

I used VHT caliper spray paint. I've also used the Duplicolor caliper kit that's a brush on application. That one's great for touch ups. I wouldn't suggest painting a whole caliper with it. Spray is the way to go for full coverage.

I did it. I found a unicorn. A wingless black trunk lid.

Now I just need a PVO.

And just FYI, the wiring harness that goes to the lid is different for '03s. I found that out the hard way. Other than having to switch harnesses, the lid swap is pretty easy. This one was originally an SRT lid, so it's been shaved and repainted. The match is really good and it looks right at home. The view out my mirror is so much better now.

Looks super good! So what is different with the harness?

Thanks!

The plugs that go to the body harness are different. Everything else is the same; you just can't plug it in.

Local guy was parting out a black SRT in one of the Facebook groups. I spotted the wingless lid and jumped on it. A PVO is definitely on my to do list. I just need to come up with the cash.

Also the power lock optioned cars will have an additional wire. I had to run a separate wire when I added the trunk release to my '01. Pretty sure the '03 up didn't come standard with a power trunk release, otherwise those wouldn't be so difficult to find. Not even sure those were available after '02?

My old '02 came without any form of trunk release. The only way to open it was with the key from the outside. It was a super duper base model.

Well at least it wasn't something Daimler stripped out of the options.

All I know is they are like trying to find hen's teeth. I wonder how many have been crushed in the JY's....

I think a lot of R/T's got them, and probably the higher end trim packages. The few cars that had an electric release that I looked at when shopping for a replacement for the '01 had the trunk lock seized up tight from lack of use. So it is advisable to spray a little lube in there and manually open it once in a while.

The one R/T I looked at at a low end used car lot had the electric release, but it didn't work, and the lock was seized. The salesman was like "Meh, we can't open the trunk". So I told him, well then I can't buy the car, and left. It was way overpriced for the condition it was in anyways. No way I was going to pay the price, and not be able to get a good look inside the trunk. You can only see so much folding the seats down.

My 03 didnt have it, i added an aftermarket kit popper into it and it came with a bright orange button that i mounted next to the steering wheel... later i rewired the kit with factory buttons and release. the trunk latches from quite a few other dodge products fit. i used to buy and sell "oem" kits on here id buy all the parts in the JY with pigtails and sell them to people with base models.

I'm starting to think good headlights no longer exist for this car.

Unfortunately, you have to go over every fricking seam with some kind of sealer. And then hope the bulb gasket seals. Of course you need to get the moisture out first...

Run the brights on for a bit while driving to clear that up. Not sure if OEM rubber gaskets would help keep water from coming in. Since yours have a big gap due to the crappy gasket they came with. On the previous page I said mine say "Eagle Eye" where yours say Dynamic R. I never had issues with the "Eagle Eye" ones.

I tried to fix my previous set of headlights by baking them and opening them up per the instructions on the SRTForums. They turned into a goopy mess with tabs breaking everywhere. It was so bad, I just threw the whole headlight in the garbage.

Yeah, I attempted years ago with a factory tail light. it wouldn't begin to separate, so I bumped the temp up a bit higher, and it ended up sagging a bit, but still wouldn't come apart.

I got another cheap off the FS boards to replace it. But I decided right then, I would probably never attempt it. Maybe some ovens are just plain better for this kind of stuff.

Given how the lenses only seem to last 5 to 7 years tops, it's a lot of effort for the time things generally last on a DD. If the car only got out a few times a year, it might be different.

I contacted the sellers of the defective headlights. They want me to send them back. This would be fine if I hadn't just trashed one of the Depos. Now the car is going to be sitting in the driveway without headlights until the refund comes through and I can buy another set from someone. What a pain in the ass.

Have you driven in rain with the Eagle Eye brand? I'm asking because I found some online. I had that brand on my old R/T and one of them leaked like these ones do. I'm a little hesitant to jump on that brand a second time.

The Depots I bought back when I fixed the car after it was totalled have yellowed pretty badly. The sad part is it has happened in the 4 years it has been sitting in the garage.

I began stripping the car yesterday, and it is amazing how badly it has rusted sitting in there from humidity alone. The rockers were not rusted at all, and now they are almost gone. The pinch weld in one place has totally disappeared. so much for structural integrity. There are literally two lines of rust on the floor from the rocker panels slowly falling off.

Basically once these begin to rust, it is game over. It's just a matter of time. At least the front fender, doors, trunk, and hood are still in the same condition as when I parked it. But the body, it is going fast. I can only imagine how bad it would be if it was parked outside for those 4 years.

The car is still sitting without headlights. I removed the yellowing fog lights as well, but I might put them back since it looks kind of lame with the gaping holes. I might tint them with some Nightshades before I put them back in. Or just paint them black, since they don't work. The problem with that is rock chips. They're going to look like shit after a few thousand miles. I guess I could pile some clear on them and hope for the best.

What do you guys think? Black, tinted, or empty?

Image Image

Ultimately, it will have a set of carbon delete panels, but I need money for those. The CBD ones are pretty overpriced IMO, so I'm looking at other alternatives.

I made plates to fill in the fog light holes in my original '01 fascia. I used some scrap that had round holes punched in it, and painted them black. I basically ducted air from the driver side to the inner fender to get some air to the engine intake area. The hole pattern was pretty tight, so it was more like a screen than anything else.

I can't say stone chips were an issue, the paint never had any road debris damage for some reason. Maybe stuff just bounces higher. I don't follow too closely either, most my stone damage is from oncoming traffic.

I guess it doesn't look terrible with the fog light holes. The headlights on the other hand...they desperately need to be filled.
