Fuel injector sizing and flow reference guide

Post by BlackRoseRacing » Wed Jun 06, 2007 6:35 am

Ok, here is one I have not found yet or just have not had enough time to search....
What is the flow rating and injector sizing that's compatable with the neon. Im talking injectors that will not blow the injector drivers out of the pcm because there low impediance.....

Neon - 19lb/hr@48psi - 199cc's?
SRT:
stock - ?
Stg 1 - ?
Stg 2 - ?
Stg 3 - ?
Ram - ?
Caravan - ?
I thought about this post since there is no real quick reference guide on injectors and there ratings. This might help those who are upgrading and need higher flowing injectors.

This site does conversions, easy.

http://www.witchhunter.com/injectorcalc1.php4

And I believe you can pull 24lb/hr injectors from Ford Tarus'. And I think that they fit in the sockets in our fuel rail.

You think correct. All neon SOHC injectors are the same.

2.0 DOHC are prolly 19lb/hr but like the earlier SOHCs, that is rated at 48 psi. I think all 2gn are at 58 psi. I believe pressure specs are at a tolerance of +/- 5psi.

I realize I'm bringing this back from the dead, but it was mentioned that the duratec ford taurus injectors are 24lb/hr, any idea what years? After a bit of google searching it looks like the older ones look a bit different from the newer ones, and it's really hard to find VIN S specific ones.

True that, but after more research it appears they use the older EV1 style connectors. Apparently Mustang 5.0 injectors are the right size and connectors, but they may need some sort of washer to make them fit our fuel rail.

These below are EV6 connectors. They plug right in to the neon harness

4854181 Injector, Jeep, 4.0l 1999 - 2004

Ford injector cross reference:
Five O Motorsports
XF2E-CB
Flow rate: 22 lbs/hr, 230 cc/min at 43.5 psi (3 bar)
(I have these in my XJ)
So at 58 psi, they flow @25 lb/hr.

http://users.erols.com/srweiss/calcpchg.htm

I haven't tried them in the neon fuel rail, but from looking at them, they look like they will fit with no issues. But until they are actually in there, I make no promises.

Edit:
ZeroChad wrote:I ran mine on 24lb/hr mustang 5.o injectors for a year with no problems. They're ev6 plug type so no wiring is required.

They are a tad longer, but sticking 2 washers underneath the fuel rail solved it.
I needed to leave the clips off on my XJ, as they were a little longer, and without the clips, they seated in farther. This leads me to believe the '99 to 2004 Jeep injectors will fit with no issues.

Update:

The '99 to 2004 Jeep 4.0 injectors need a 10mm spacer, or washers stacked to equal 10mm.

It's actually supposed to be 12mm. The 2 standard injector lengths are 48mm and 60mm o-ring to o-ring. Although that 2mm just pushes the o-rings further into the rail which isn't an issue the way our rails seat the o-rings.

Hmmm, maybe in this case the Magnum intake is a little deeper. The injectors have the locks on them to keep them positioned in the rail. I just pushed it into the manifold, and got out the dial calipers...

Either way, it still worked fine in my Ghetto Blaster (1gn IM).

My guess is any same year GT Cruiser injectors might match.

But they were de tuned from SRT specs. IDK if it was only PCM programming, or if the injectors were down sized too.

Nothing in an N/A PT Cruiser would match SRT injectors at any stage.

The following information I retrieved. Shows that the PTGT used the same injector numbers for the same years as the NSRT. So, I think it's safe to say that it was only the PCM that was "De-tuned" and not the injectors...

03 NSRT 4852747AA
03 PT GT 4852747AA

04 NSRT 4891574AB
04 PT GT 4891574AB

05 NSRT 4891574AB
05 PT GT 4891574AB

07 CSRT *Could not find*
08 CSRT 4891574AD
09 CSRT 4891574AD

Those are my findings via ALLDATA.
