2.4 Turbo computer running a 2.0 NA/Turbo
FTR: The reason I suspended this project was that it just wasn't worth my time.
To this date I have yet to have anyone serious in this concept to actually want to pay me for a tune.
But in the same time frame I have made several thousand dollars tuning Srt-4s. So it seems I've made the right decision not invest any more time into it.
Good luck NiteHawk but don't count on these sales paying for your CMR in this decade.

I'm glad that helping non-srt members is not worth your time...gives me more reason to make it worth my time.
in other news...i had the car idling on the srt computer early this morning.....put it on the dyno around 11 and started working on the VE table...it's pretty well on point now for WOT.........calling it quits for tonight since it's now 3am...tomorrow, er, later today, we'll see what a bone stock neon can pull out of it's ass...

going through more tables today rescaling for 1bar NA....
For those wondering why I would do this....leaving the 2.25 bar tables as is on an NA motor means there's that much data(about half of the total table) and resolution you CAN'T use...rescaling for 1bar gives you back that resolution, which means things can be that much more exact....
When I'm done this will be a completely new tune...it's going to take a lot of time, but it'll all be worth it...

Sounds like the deal of the century considering the tuning time and dyno time you spent in the last,,what's it been 6 months. and you have yet to go WOT.NiteHawk wrote:At what cost? Last time i asked you for advice you told me i had to pay you $500 for a base map...
No matter, Tell you what, I'm feeling real sorry for you and the other hapless 2nd gen guys,,so here ya go:
Note:
1) Copy/paste MBT timing on to Part throttle and WOT tables.
1a) Cut 5 degrees off the whole WOT table,
1b) Cut 5 degrees off the PT table above 60kPa as well as below 30kPa.
2) these few changes is all it takes to get a 2.0l SOHC running 95% as well as stock on the Srt-4 PCM.

Thanks for the contribution this will definitely shorten my time to completion...
For the record though I havn't spent 6 months on this project... I started from scratch with a new pcm (04 instead of 03) 2 nights ago and have spent no more than 4 hours of actually working on this.....all of the time on the dyno itself was spent in WOT.

Not 6 months? As an Engineer im not really that good at math and stuff
Lets see:
1) you started last July by locking out your DSP and messing up the VIN flash,
2) you solicited (but refused) my help in late September when the car consitantly ran like crap and wouldn't even idle.
3)Now you finally got it working half way decent at the end of January.
its been 7months?

again, i started fresh 2 nights ago.... i work full time at a shop now, and havn't had the time to even look at this project... time spent not working on a project does not mean that's time you spent working on a project... I'm sorry that I've been too busy working on fast cars to tinker with my own...

To any and all who were interested in the SRT pcm route for their 2gn for tuning purposes, I have an update for you. the SRT PCM route will NOT pass emissions out of the box because it does not set OBD readiness when programmed with with a DSP. THERE IS A SOLUTION THOUGH... Either source a staged pcm (s2/s3) or for $250 I can flash a stage base map onto the pcm(not done with a diablosport), which will force it to say N/A for all OBD tests (passing emissions), and then recalibrate it from there. This is what it costs me, I'm making no profit on the stage base maps.

Any Srt-4 PCM will work. You can use a Stock 2003 all the way to a 2005 Stage 3 or most any PT turbo PCMs(not sure about 06-newer NGC4).
Matt,,don't write checks your ass can't cash. This Stage Flash is going to VERY LITTLE to help anyone pass emissions. Sorry man but this is doomed to fail. You should at least test it or even fully understand the problem before offering to take dumb kids money.
FYI: the only OBD Readiness issue the Stage PCMs solve is from the way the DS turns off the rear O2 when no Cat is used. There's ZERO issues caused from the DSP flash. Custom tunes pass emmissions all the time,,,as long as all the parts are there.
If you drop in the Srt-4 PCM into a 2.0L with a cat and rear O2 and there is no "problem" for a Stage PCM to "solve". So if you plan on running a CAT and Rear O2, spending for $250 for a S1 flash would be a complete waste of money.
The lack of an ACT sensor, TIP sensor, 3 Solenoids are the obvious CEL hurdles to over come before Emissions passing is even a consideration. A Stage PCM does nothing to resolve the CEL from their absence.
To ever have a chance at passing Emissions, a ACT sensor MUST be wired in maybe a TIP too, idk.

You know it's funny you should say that..... I know of at least 1 member on this forum that can prove you otherwise.duster360 wrote:There's ZERO issues caused from the DSP flash. Custom tunes pass emmissions all the time,,,as long as all the parts are there.
I won't drag them into this unless they want to comment on it themselves...but certain states have specific emissions laws that the DSP tunes can't get around easily... The solution I mentioned was brought up by a mutual acquaintance who frankly, I trust much better.
Oh, and I tell every potential customer up front that to stand a chance at passing, they have to have the sensors and solenoids from an SRT...so you're not telling me anything I didn't already know, nor anything I don't already tell others...
Thanks again for the help Duster.

My post was a warning to others and not advice.
I do this every day. So I therfore deal with customers needing to pass emissions every day. I know what works and what doesn't.
Also for nearly everyday for the last 3 years, I have had Srt-4, Hemi, Ram and Srt-8 customers pass emissions with their Diablo custom tune installed. There is NO way to tell the PCM has been flashed. DiabloSport will be the first ones to tell you that.
Your comment that the Diablo tune inherently will cause you to fail emissions is 100% FALSE. Why not give Mike Litsch at Diabloa call and ask him before scheaming up an idea to sell an empty promise. thats just bad buisness bro
Listen, I know the NGC, Stage PCMs and Diablo tuning software inside and out. Forking over $250 to flash a Stage Calibration will do nothing but turn off the rear O2
I've been flashing Srt-4 PCMs over to Stage PCM for over 2 years using SCT. I now what it does and when it will be benficial and when it won't. I use it as a way to help customers with no CAT pass.
Again: the ONLY advantage a Stage PCMs gives you is an convenient way to disable the Rear O2 and still pass emissions,,that IS ALL. There is NO other advantage what so ever.
By all means though, take someones money and THEN see if you can do what you believe might work

Ok, NIGEL is the one that told me about doing the reflash. I'm still not saying exactly who has confirmed a DSP tune failing emissions. Between Nigel and the 2gn member, I wholeheartedly believe what they have to say. Nigel has also confirmed the 2gn member's situation. Obviously it will be only confirmed once I try. Now I don't know about the emissions in your neck of the woods, but around here this is what I am going off of. So, how bout this. Once my car is finished and tuned, if it fails emissions how about you pay me $500 for this information.

Come on ladies, you can let all the passive aggressiveness go. In the end, these are NEONS. The newest one is 7 years old at this point. I understand you both are trying to make/prove your points but dammit, calm down.
So many neons so little time.

Guess what? I have worked with Nigel and Aaron at TruDynoSports for almost 2 years now, doing contract tuning. So, again I may know just a tad more about it than you. If by chance you actually talked to him, you obviously misunderstood.NiteHawk wrote:Ok, NIGEL is the one that told me about doing the reflash. More importantly, the proper way to sell a product is to test and validate its effectiveness BEFORE accepting a payment from a customer.
Since you've done neither and have yet to barely drive the car much with the new PCM let alone atempt to pass emissions, it would be disingenuous to take any money from or mislead customers with your FALSE claims.
IF ANY forum member is tempted to squander $250 on the Stage PCM Cure All, Sure Fire, Emissions passing Flash, contact Nigel or Aaron DIRECTLY at TrudynoSports
You can also contact Neil at ND Performance for a 4th Opinion on the TRUE value of a SCT Stage reflash and its worth in passing Emissions testing
You Should Also contact Mike Litsch at Diablo or post on their Forum asking if a Diablo tune will pass Emissions. He will emphatically claim it will, further disproving Nitehawks false claim that it will not
Everything I have said can be substantiated by these professionals
Its bigger than "I'm right, you're wrong" when there is innocent customer's money on the line.INVUJerry wrote: I understand you both are trying to make/prove your points but dammit, calm down.
Someone is selling snake oil
The other one is trying to prevent others from being scammed out of $250.
Its not hard to figure out who's, who.
You're welcome
"I have used the same process on numerous cars, both local and in other states. So I know it works. The only thing is some states are more strict then others and you can't have any emissions shit cut off. I know it's worked around here, VA, WV, New York, Nevada, California and most other ones. I think St. Louis may be one of the strict ones.
What it does is it sets everything to not applicable instead of ready or not ready. That's why it passes."
From Nigel, to me...word for word...
how about instead of shitting all over this thread duster, you go talk to Nigel yourself, and ask him why he told me that it works.....since you seem to know so well what works and what doesn't, yet Nigel is highly respected among the SRT community...

Guys, quit the arguing.
Duster, if you are no longer going to provide a productive conversation you need to leave this thread.

I think the "argument" is producing productive information regarding tuning but that's just me.
However, in RI if you have any PCM other than stock (on an SRT-4) and the rear 02 is turned off (i.e. reading N/A) you will fail emissions 10/10 times. MA people have had issues with this as well, some have found ways around it, others have not. The details of which I am not aware of I just know that staged PCMs fail with RI's new emissions equipment.
Duster has helped me in MANY DSP situations and knows his stuff very well....I'd rather him an ally than an enemy in this field but that's just me.

Moving on...
tuning is on hold for a few days. I was doing some street logs and noticed i was never hitting PE mode (Power Enrichment or WOT mode). looked over some older logs, and saw different numbers.
my car now is putting out 3.804V at WOT....which would normally be around 4.5V at WOT. I pulled the connector off only to find corrosion on the pins in the connector. I'm ordering a repair kit for it and then continuing.
