Part Number Request: Exhaust Manifiold Parts

Post by Caraudioholic24 » Tue Dec 01, 2009 1:36 am

Hi. I need part numbers for the nuts that attach the manifold to the Head.

Also the Hardware to attach the manifold/header part to the downpipe/Cat.

Picked upp an OBX header w/ cat delete downpipe. Well it came with gaskets but no hardware. They told me to reuse my old ones. LOL. Even with the car having only 25,000 miles I doubt they are gonna come off easy.

05 SXT ATX thanks

Manifold to head
6503131 ECB BOLT, Hex Flange Head, M8x1.25x30 8 required $0.45

Manifold to Cat/Down pipe*
6100297 ECB BOLT AND CONED WASHER, Hex 4 required $3.80 (These are more like a stud. The nuts will come off without holding the other end. the hex head end is splined, so don't attempt to turn the bolt out of the manifold flange. They will tap out, but thread the nut back on if you want to remove/salvage those.)
Edit: See post #8.....

6100517 ECB NUT, Hex Flange Lock, M8 Phosphate 4 required $2.20

4616671 GASKET, Manifold To Exhaust Pipe 1 required $10.95

Edit: See Dante's post for correct number. (6505926AA)

Not sure what a cres bolt is.

You could just use a regular bolt/lock nut but it will be a PITA holding it to tighten it down. The nice thing about the factory ones is you only have to put the nut on and don't have to bend your hand into a pretzel to hold the bolt from turning.

agreed, the oem bolt is designed to be somewhat pressed into the manifold so it does not turn when installing the gasket,exhaust,nuts...

Hmmm, Looking at the parts catalog, it shows those in the exhaust part. I went to the manifold section, and found this PN# 6505926AA BOLT, Hex Head Exhaust Manifold.

Neither states that they are a splined stud/bolt. So which one if either are what comes in the manifold is only TBD by a qualified parts specialist,("cough" Dante "cough" or by buying the other PN 6505926AA.

I apologize if I posted erroneous info, as you spent $ on something that isn't correct.

eh no big deal. do u have the thread size for the bolts i have. it seems that the holes on my header are smaller than the bolt so i will thread tap them. then it will be the same idea as the splined stud.

thanks

From what I can see, part #6505926AA is the correct # for the manifold to cat bolts. Those bolts are sized M8x1.25x40.00

The part # you got is sized M8x35x17

The first # I listed is what you want, but to be honest, you may be better off using what you can get your hands on.
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

Prolly supposed to be M8 x 1.25, or 1.5 pitch x 17 IDK if 17mm is going to be long enough to use the nut. If you do decide to tap it, just take the bolt to a hardware, HD, or Lowe's, and match it to a nut to get the correct pitch.

Looking at the '02 through '04 parts (which I didn't have at the time) it doesn't even show that bolt/nut combo. At least they corrected it for less confusion along the way. Bastids....

ok. yea i think if i tap out the holes and use loctite they wont move. the it will be like having the studs there. like u said before it will make it much easier to install then having to hold everything. thanks again

You will prolly need high heat thread locker.

If the hole is larger than 9/32" (.281"/7.14mm), then you may need to go to a M10, or 3/8" size screw.

You were going to thread the screws through so they are like the original studs, right? That is the only way to go, as it will make lining up the down pipe a breeze.

Of course if the old ones are usable, I would just tap them out by putting a nut on the end, and pound them into the OBX. Just put a deep well socket underneath for support.

yes basically the bolts once threaded through will be stuck there and act like studs.

i tried to save the old ones but 3 out of 4 snapped. car only has 25k which made me think they would have been easier. oh well. we have a long weekend coming up so ill keep you all posted on how it goes
