damn easier and cheaper, the R/T tranny is $1450 MSRP and the reg sxt tranny is $200 more, that makes no sence that the parts cost more than the trannyBlackRoseRacing wrote:5017848AB - 3.94 R/T gears - $584msrp
5017853AA - Output shaft - $1260msrp
In order to swap to the 3.94 gears, you also need to change the outputshaft in the trani, thats why its easier to buy a trani used and complete.

lets step back in time a little to before the neon was killed...
go to a dealership, get the price tag on the window sticker of a new SRT4
now go up to the parts department, and ask them to BUILD you an SRT4...
cost of parts alone will be around $35k AT LEAST...just for the parts

Acording to Autozone's vehicle selector, the R/T's acount for 2% of '01 sales, so basically there are prolly more 3.94 MTX's sitting on the shelf, hence the lower price. Not to mention a lower demand. Especially with fuel at 4.19/Gal. There are prolly some R/T owners wishing for 3.55's! The $200 extra would recoup pretty fast these days.
