neon beats viper???

so i was just browsing youtube yesterday and i saw what i belive to be a first gen beat a viper?!?! is this possible, or was the guy in the viper just a shitty driver?

it's legit. very old video. but i believe that's Mike Crawford's VERY built drag neon.

Yeah I remember that video from a long time ago. If the viper is stock it has 450 hp (since it looks like a first generation gts). You can put over 450 hp in a neon for a lot less than $75,000!

The same reason GM would not put a real engine in the Opel GT.
Only 215 hp (crank) needed to spank any 'vette they currently had at the time. Didn't want ppl buying a cheaper car that went faster. The GT prolly already outhandled the Corvette anyways.

Yep, that was Len in the Hahn car. Beating a viper isn't all that impressive anymore. On my old setup, I would have beat one from a roll.
