Part Number Request: ABS wheel sensor screw

Post by Drvr02RT » Tue Oct 11, 2011 9:42 pm

Alright so I didnt want to chance getting the wrong bearing so I bought a set of knuckles from an 03 car. Now I'm having a problem getting my ABS sensor screw into the knuckle, and zip ties arent cutting it (abs light came on). So...I need to know if there is a difference between my 02 screw and the 03 screw.

If it matters, the knuckles came from an automatic.

Thanks!

With the R/T you already have the "newer syle" the bearing width is 39mm IIRC. Early SE/SXT's still may have the 33mm bearing.
Timken PN's in this thread:

There is another thread with more info, but I don't have time to look ATM.

Sorry, I totally forgot about this thread. Should have bumped it up sooner.

34201686 BOLT, Hex Flange Head, M12x1.18x35 MSRP $3.50
Same bolt for all.

Not sure on that thread pitch spec tho. 1.18? might be a typo prolly M12 x 1.0 but you never know. The threads may need chased in the knuclkes you got, if there was no sensor mounted on them.

Have you installed them on your car yet, because with the ATX knuckle and MTX innner tie rods, you may have some issues with setting the toe in. Your turning radius will prolly be larger also. (Info in the above link) The R/T rack is a bit different tho. But you should be aware the tie rod hole is in a different position on the ATX knuckles.

Oh no problem. Yeah I installed them today, and I ended up cutting the inner tie rods about 1/2" for the difference. The knuckles were advertised as MTX, but I didnt realize it until I had my new bearings and hubs pressed in so I said F it and cut them shorter. Ugh guess ill have to stop and grab a tap tomorrow.

Thanks so much for the info!

So...I bought 2 taps 12x1.0 and 12x1.25 and they were both way too big to fit the hole in the knucle for the ABS sensor screw. Going to take the knuckle to the store tomorrow and test them until they fit.

You know, the size alone should have been a red flag for me. 12mm is pretty damn huge to hold a sensor in place.

Sorry.

Prolly 6 or 8mm
