Part Number Request: Subframe/Crossmember/K frame

Post by NinjaMonkey06 » Thu Jul 12, 2012 4:14 pm

I need the part number for a 2000 Neon subframe. Unless anyone knows if I can use a 2003 subframe in a 2000 without major modifications.

The part number for a 2003 is different, but As Far As I Know, it will bolt right up, like it grew there.

Chrysler 'superseded' the older K-frame p/n's with newer, 'revised' versions.
I thought I read somewhere here, that the 'revised' newer part numbers are either stronger or have better corrosion protection.

I'll wait for Bill to chime in......

the revised version is basically the same except for the webbing that goes across the bottom of the k frame (where it would usually rust out). the revised newer version just hase a couple web pieces welded to the bottom, unlike the older versions which had an intricate plate with holes there that would retain water and rust out easily.

Psh, they rust anyways. I put a zillion coats of paint on the new one I bought, and it is rusting through that.

Damn things must have been rusting when they painted them.

Even the newer cars have the same problem. My Mom's 2007 Caliber's cross member is rusting very nicely. :tardbang:

This is a good place to use POR-15.
I will have to do mine soon, while I still have a K-frame to paint.......

For reinforcement; keeps it from deflecting in or out.
