Part Number Request: SRT-4 brake (and fuel lines)*

Post by Midnight_Rider » Sun Dec 15, 2019 12:29 am

I would appreciate someone directing me to this if it has already been posted. Otherwise, a list of parts and their numbers will help. Also, anything related to replacing OEM brake parts (minus calipers and pads- already did these). Thanks in advance. :D

Do not include the zero at the beginning of the PN. I'm not going through them and deleting all of the zeros.

So I stop where your lists begins with "Fuel Lines"? Thank you for the post!

Correct.

Given the main fuel line runs in with the brake line bundle, I figured I would include that, since it would be right in the mix.

I don't see there being any real issue, unless DCX went cheap after 2001. The ones in y '01 were almost perfect, except for the passenger rear brake tube nut. They have a black plastic type covering, that does a very nice job of preventing rust. Rust wise, they were probably the best parts left on the car. I pulled the entire bundle out, and have it hanging on the wall, fuel line and all.

Other than the event of damage, like road debris crushing them, or manufacturer cost cutting, I don't see any reason to have spares, especially on a car that rarely sees road salt. If anything, I would crack all the tube nuts loose, pull the end out of the caliper, master cylinder, ABS, or wheel cylinders and antiseize the tube and threads, and tighten it all back down and bleed them/flush the brake fluid.

The tube nuts are the only true weak link on them. If they had been stainless, I doubt the lines would ever fail. For 18 years old, I was pleasantly surprised how nice they were, compared to brake and fuel lines on a 1gn. Those were bare steel tubing.

I also wonder if any of the hard lines are even still available. The lines to the rear brakes are going to be the most likely to have issues, since the engine bay heat will help the misc ones under the hood and the ABS stuff. They are also the ones that would not ship without bending them, if they would ship them at all. Those would likely be dealer pick up only, and probably not at a discount.

I just randomly checked 5066870AA, and it comes up as this: https://www.moparpartsgiant.com/parts/m ... 870aa.html

Granted it is for a Chrysler neon, but it is kind of scary that they are recycling part numbers for other items/vehicles. That tells me eventually, having the part number isn't going to mean anything.

I appreciate your taking the time to look up these numbers for me, even if they are discontinued. Kind of makes a blueprint for future plans.
