Part Number Request: Door liner behind plastic panel

Post by protivakid » Tue Jun 11, 2013 9:22 pm

Looking for a part number for that clear door liner with the black tape all the way around it. It sits behind the door panel. Specifically driver's side rear.

Let me check later, but I believe it is not available anymore.

IIRC, there was a thread on this a while back, and someone linked another source maybe?

I believe it is called a vapor barrier...

You seem to be right on it being called a vapor barrier. Do you know if the new ones came with the black cement like stripping as well? If not I can just buy a tube of it and re-seal my door liner.

I would prefer the OEM stuff other than a 3rd party barrier

Well it is not even shown, or listed in the parts. I can imagine it would be a nightmare to package, and hope the backing didn't come off the adhesive. They would be useless if that happened. Mopar probably figured no one would buy them anyways.

I usually just cut it with a razor where I need access, and tape it back. trying to peel back the black goo usually never turns out well.

They probably use some kind of pneumatic caulking gun to apply the adhesive at the factory. If it doesn't use a standard caulk tube, that would be something else they would have to list separate, if it was not pre applied.

Read on another forum that the stuff dodge originally used is some sort of contact cement and that the 3M one was pretty good stuff. Ordered a few tubes and will attempt to re-seal my existing vapor barrier.
