Part Number Request: Fog light bulb part numbers for 00+ 2GN

Post by flhmfd » Fri Jul 07, 2006 8:15 pm

i've searched through the site several times and could not find exactly what im looking for

im trying the find the number for the foglight bulbs on a 2001 R/T

from what i've gathered people are using modified 9005 bulbs, but i dont wanna have to trim prongs and such...

i've also heard that a 3 digit number like 881 or 891 or something will work also, this is the type of number i was told would fit when i went to buy my headlights

im going to be buying the "HID" style yellow fogbulbs soon, and dont wanna throw my money away for nothing

thanks

9145 bulbs are for the r/t's while the 891 bulbs where for the non r/t bulb. sylvania sells the 9145 bulb in the silverstar variety and nokya has them in jdm yellow and hyper white.

Thread be aliveeeee!!!

I'm about to buy bulbs for my 02 foglights. Now, don't the foglight HARNESS' from 00-01 to 02 have the SAME female connectors? The only reason for bulb change is to fit in the 02 style foglight socket. Correct?

Yep, connector is the same, just the bulbs are sideways on the end.

The bulb type is 880, or 893 or 881. I'm 99% positive, but so I can't get yelled at wait for someone else to chime in.

The harness for 00-02 are the same. It's the shape of the bulbs / lights themselves that are different.

Plugs be da same.

Okay, I'll add to the confusion since this thread was resurrected. I ordered the Sylvania Silverstars for my headlights today but was told at the parts counter that there isn't an equivalent for the fogs. Got home and checked the 2007 Performance catalog (yes, it is outdated but I keep it for all of the Neon SRT-4 part references) and on page 248 I see part numbers for fogs. What gives?

From what I can remember Gramps, from my old '05, I used the 9145ST bulb from silverstar and didn't run into any issues, granted that was 6 years ago and my memory is not what it used to be ;)

Parts is telling me that the fog bulbs in SXTs and SRTs are different so there isn't a Silverstar for the SRT fog (something about an 899 bulb standard on an SRT fog not being the same as the standard fog bulb in an SXT). The dealership has the headlight bulbs that I ordered and I want to make a service appointment for this Friday for installation but I was really hoping to have all four bulbs put in at the same time. Am I being given the wrong information?

I believe the only difference between the different part numbers is whether the harness plugs straight int the back of the bulb, or whether the bulb connector comes off at an angle...

:banghead: This is another one of those times where I wish I had the talent (and tools and a place to do mechanical stuff) so I could do this myself without relying on a dealership. Thanks for your help Chris!

David, I believe you could probably lay on your back in front of the car and reach up and twist out the bulb gently and check to see what P/N is on the bulb. I seem to remember it being fairly simple to do.

***Top secret*** I may be able to pull one on friday and tell you if you can wait ;)

Thanks for the offer but I think that I'll just keep the stock fog bulbs for now. Maybe before Carlisle when the weather is better and I can use my mother's garage, I'll give the fogs a pull and check those numbers per your suggestion.

FWIW, I went to replace my foglight bulbs on my '02 R/T today, and not only does this car have plastic lenses, but it's also not using the 9145 bulbs. My car's build date is 3-02

Edit: Only one of mine was plastic...someone must have replaced it with the wrong one at some point.
