OK. This is a complete list of all the 1st gen Federal PCMs. I left out the California, High Altitude, and Export PCMs. It would take even longer to muddle through those listings than this list took

I will list all of the part numbers from the 1st one used all the way to the most recent, and the reman #'s as well. On the later part #'s that have the same base #, but supersede to higher levels (i.e. "AA" to "AB") I will just list the letter change.

You didn't post the Mopar's?

I've always wanted to figure out how to get a 2000 to run on a 97-99 mopar computer.

I would, too.... It would be a godsend.

My understanding is that the 97-99 PCM's "communicate" with the dash cluster differently, precluding their use in a 2000.

I have both 2nd gen and 1st gen dash clusters sitting in the garage, I should see if the plug-ins are different......

They are, the 2000 gives actual code numbers like P040, where the 1gn pcm just does the flash the CEL thing. I think the gauges would physically work, but the CEL portion wouldn't work.

Wow, you may have just MADE my DAY !! :D

Who CARES if the code numbers don't show..... I can always 'pull' those with a scanner.

I wonder if the 1st gen cluster will physically fit......
Well, I'm going into the garage in a few minutes, I'll take a look.....

 No problem.

By the time you posted this, I was already in the garage...... all I had to do was hold the two clusters up side by side.

Unfortunately, they will not interchange..... not only are the mounting points different, but the connectors are completely different.

I wonder if the '97-'99 PCM will run the 2000 dash cluster at all.... or if the only issue is with the CEL function.... :-k

I bet if you had the pin out for both, and fabbed an adapter, it would. The speed sensor is prolly the same, as the 40te wasn't in the picture yet. I would think the tach signals would be the same. The rest is just signals from the senders. The senders and sensors would prolly need swapped on the block anyhow. The only other one I can think of off hand, is the fuel level. IDK if it is the same range. I know the 2gn cluster can be modded to work in 1gn's for SRT swap's, so some reverse engineering may be needed there.
