Part Number Request: Hood Ajar and Decklid Ajar Switches

Post by Midnight_Rider » Mon Feb 03, 2014 3:38 am

Part is pictured in the 2005 Service Manual (export, of course  ). Don't know if I could hook them up or not but would probably buy them and put them in just for show (the hood ajar switch is next to the blinker fluid reservoir ).

not sure if it comes with it but there's two bolts and a bracket that you need for the hood switch. i have them if you end up needing them.

Great, I'll let you know. The hard part will be 1) getting the part numbers and 2) finding someone who still has them in stock.

Under hood

4707875AB 1 Security Alarm $14.45

Also used on the Avengers, and 2010 - Dodge - Ram 1500 Laramie - EZH - V8 - 5.7L - GAS BODY HARDWARE / PICK UP BOX / STORAGE COMPARTMENT / Ajar switch

Ebay link

5293096AA 1 with Bracket, Security Alarm $12.50
Go figure it's listed cheaper with the bracket, IF it is truely both.

Trunk
4671067AB 1 SWITCH, Security Alarm $12.50

As always, check availability before ordering.

^^Thanks OD, I'll have to check into those numbers. I'll still have to find their respective wiring harnesses though and I doubt that I could hook them up to the standard SRT-4 security system. Still wouldn't stop me from installing them just to make people wonder what I'm up to.

I can give you the pigtail it plugs into if it helps. You would still have to splice the pigtail into your body harness

Gramps, fyi these aren't really BUX parts. A lot of US cars had the hood and trunk switches. In fact I know the red SRT I stripped had the trunk switch because I removed it and reinstalled it on Jerry's old car. If you have a trunk lid carpet, once you remove it grab a flashlight and look into the trunk skin structure right where the lock cylinder is and yo MAY see that gold metal bracket with the connector already there. The hood ajar switch you would see if it was there. Pretty sure the doors can get the switches too.

Also, FYI - the dealer can enable the factory alarm if it came from the factory disarmed. It will probably only be of use to the doors or possibly doors and trunk though. If the red dot on the cluster comes on after you lock your doors then blinks after a while the alarm is enabled.

Check this link out for more info regarding that:

^^Thanks for the info. I've already ordered the parts so I figured that they aren't BUX or no US dealer would have sold them to me (I learned that lesson very well after trying to buy the retractable antenna here  ). I don't remember seeing anything like that in my trunk before I installed the decklid carpet and there isn't anything like the hood switch in my car so I'll see what arrives in the mail. I might just have to add these parts to my oddball collection (along with my now useless BUX antenna cable) that I can show off at meets.

As for enabling the alarm, mine came from the factory with the alarm enabled (red dot on the cluster blinks). Great info from the link you provided though.

Okay, that part arrived a few minutes ago (from a dealership in North Carolina) but there are no nuts or bolts, much less a wiring harness. This is getting to be like a jigsaw puzzle.
