West Coast to East Coast: Carlisle Trip Planning
I am personally going to do what it takes to get to Carlisle for the 2009 show and have seen some interest from others in making the same trek. So I thought I'd start a thread to coordinate those who are interested in hopes to find a reasonable means of attending this show without moths flying out of the wallet.
Its not going to be cheap to travel across the country one way or another, but planning it out in advance we'll be able to defray some of the coasts.
Some things I've looked into:
Shipping the car: 1 way is currently about $1800 for a lowered vehicle.
Train: there are no train services that I know of that will transport a vehicle for a single time private party. I will continue to look into this.
Driving: this is the fun one and the most cost effective with more people involved. From Seattle to Carlisle your looking at a dive of 2700 Miles. That is roughly a 40 hour drive taking about 10 tanks of gas one way. Unfortunately calculating the cost for this doesn't include Hotels (unless there are members along the route willing to put people up for a night, which is another purpose of this thread), Food, and loss of work time.
So I'd like to propose a group venture for anyone interested in heading to Carlisle next year from the West towards the East. It is important to note whether you just want to travel or drive your Neon, such as if I am driving I will have 2 comfortable seats available for this trip.

Everyone knows that for breasts to be "perfect" they need to be within reach.
great idea!!! i drove from redmond to where im sitting now. it took me 5 days but it was winter and i was in a corolla so i traveled down through utah and through kansas and then back up. it could probably be done in 3 days since in the summer coming across montana and stuff. there are some cheap hotels you just gotta be willing to not sleep to well. i stayed in holiday inns the whole time except one night i got real tired and had to go to a motel that was 20$ a night. lol but this is a great idea. the drive is real fun and would probably be alot more fun when your going through montana and the dakotas and seeing the signs that say drive at your own risk.
well like i mentioned already in my thread, anyone traveling from the west is welcome to stop here to rest and prep for the last 3 hours of the trip
maybe consider the idea of going along the north pickin up people as you go, like brodie and EJ, and sean, etc?

well i may not have the biggest place to stay, but i'd be more than happy to offer you guys to bunk at my apartment in toledo. i'll be here for a least another year, so it's not like that plan would change any. there's plenty of parking (providing you drive the cars and not a semi) and plenty of floor space
Modify your Car • Modify your Body • Modify your Life
just keep me informed on how many you pick up along the way, lol...
dont wanna be planning for like 4 peopel and have 10, ya know? lol...i can plan for as many as that wanna stay, just wanna know about em BEFORE they get here

Is it possible to rent a transport (the rigs that deliver cars from the factory to the dealerships)? Everyone out there could chip in, meet in a central place and have their vehicles moved en masse. I think that it would be a lot cheaper than gassing the individual vehicles. People could fly or take a bus and pick up their cars in PA. Or is this a dumb idea?

I drove tag team style from east florida to northern ca in just over two days (left friday evening and arrived early monday morning). 3200 miles and change. This was in a 67 camaro SS w/ a GMPP 502 and a 4 speed manual. Talk about a rough ride. I'd be game for the trip but none of that stop and sleep BS, straight through is the only way to go. Should take less than 3 days. Roadtrip FTW! Especially caravan style!

Thanks Frank...
As things get a little bit closer I'll be making lists for this thread for those from the West that want to head east. And then from there I'll try to get meeting places put together as well and stopping places (depending on how peeps want to go about getting there).

You know, Yo, this is a very intriguing concept. I would love to be apart of, and to be able to pull off a road trip of this magnitude. Carlisle looks to be the one, to end all of shows. I think I'll have to give it great consideration. I'm not to sure how Mandy will react, however what a vacation this would make.
Google mapped from my apartment: Driving directions to Carlisle, PA 2,598 mi – about 1 day 15 hours.
Could you imagine how absolutely filthy our cars would arrive after that kind of road trip.

Painters Tape FTW!!!!! or I think Nighthawk has offered his garage for some cleaning.... .... i think....
As for the drive itself I'm thinking no less than three days if there are only drivers. If there is a combination of drivers and passengers then there should be the ability to stop less often.
