2009 Carlisle Hotel Decision Thread
Starting a new one because the other one is up to 9 pages, and this is just easier.
*Edit by Diablo0* - FYI to everyone reading this, it appears most people are booking at The Harrisburg West - http://www.harrisburgwest.com/
This is all the info I got today:
Best Western – New Cumberland
Not enough rooms
Motel 6 – New Cumberland 717-774-8910
$43.99 1 - 2 people (basically one bed)
$49.99 3 – 4 people (basically two beds)
everyone in the same area of the hotel
editorial comment: manager was very friendly and helpful while on the phone
Rodeway Inn – New Cumberland
$69.99 1 – 2
$10 extra each person (ex: 4 people = $89.99/night)
Days Inn – New Cumberland
$99.99
Red Roof Inn – Harrisburg North
Not enough rooms
Econo Lodge – Mechanicsburg
Not enough rooms
Harrisburg West
May or may not have enough rooms. They have 34 rooms total. Justin talked to the manager and they are fine with renting us the entire hotel at $50 per night.
Being that we have 34 replys to the other thread, and I wouldn't be surprised if there ended up being a few more. I would rather not go with the Harrisburg West because some people would probably get alienated and I know we wanted everyone to be together. Please refer to the other thread for notes about the hotels when I checked them out a couple weeks ago: viewtopic.php?p=529105#529105
I would like to see a majority by the end of the week, maybe Monday or Tuesday at the latest so that I can call whatever place it is back and get everything set up.

Can they guarantee us the whole hotel basically though? I imagine we would end up needing about 30 rooms or so...
What was the hotel beside it as well? Maybe try and get a cheap rate from them too and have as many in each??
I liked last years hotel alot, and the fact that it was close to everything and right on the highway and out of the way too...

The Motel 6 is right across the street from where we were last year. The Rodeway is the hotel that is next to where we were last year. The Days Inn isn't far from where we were last year. All three of these places are within minutes of each other.
From the other hotel thread it appears we will need atleast 34 rooms. The difference between the Harrisburg West and the Rodeway is pretty big price wise.
The manager of the Motel 6 said that they would put everyone in the same place. I didn't get that far with the Rodeway. I figured 95% of the users here would pick the Motel 6 because of the price, but if people pick the Rodeway I'll get into more detail with the manager, it was just a little hard to understand him.

Re: 2009 Carlisle Hotel Decision Thread
Did he tell you that the rates are higher on Fridays and Saturdays? I reserved a room there last July and there is an $8 difference per night on weekends.racer12306 wrote:Motel 6 – New Cumberland 717-774-8910

She did not mention that. If everyone decides there, then I will be sure to ask that when I call back.Midnight_Rider wrote:Did he tell you that the rates are higher on Fridays and Saturdays? As much as I'd like to avoid it, the prices of Motel 6 will make up for whatever they don't have that we forget at home. Say you forget a towel, well you'd have to go buy one from Wal*Mart (or the equivalent if you're like me and don't shop at Wal*Mart). You'd be able to afford a towel (or toothpaste, whatever) with the money you saved staying at Motel 6. Just make sure you bring everything you need, as they're not likely to have anything.
This also includes ashtrays in the smoking rooms.
Wait shit, I changed my mind, I want something with a jacuzzi room!

I'm sure that the Motel 6 here will be stocked fine. I'm staying where Frank, Mox, and Asian Steve stay.

So many neons so little time.
