Book there and Motel 6. They don't charge you for cancelations.

motel6.com wrote:If it becomes necessary to cancel a reservation which you have sent in payment or guaranteed with your credit card, you must notify the Motel 6 reserved by 6:00 p.m. (4:00 p.m. at some locations) on the arrival date and receive a cancellation number. (Times and dates to cancel without penalty may vary by location, on Special Events, Holidays and/or Weekends. Contact the Motel 6 reserved for cancellation policies which may affect your reservation.) If you do not cancel your guaranteed reservation, your credit card will be charged for the first night and the remainder of the reservation will be cancelled (if more than 1 night).

Late to the party....
The motel in my perspective was...iffy...
The shade was nice, the overhang while it rained was nice, but when they stated they had no security or anyone looking over the lot had me worried. I told the manager I had to park my vehicle were someone was 24hrs so I did not have an issue and my vehicle, so I was parked in front of the registration office. I told them if something happened to the vehicle the motel would be shut down, they ran scared and I had priority parking :) granted it was a borrowed $50,000 truck, I still was not going to lose my ass if some idiot wanted the radio out of it and ruined the truck.
As for the motel room issues....i won't start
Harrisburg West, I don't think anyone from 2GN ever had to worry about anything happening to there cars except for the one who had a dick straw on there antennae....lol
Most of use complained about no hot water or dirty linen, who complained about the Harrisburg west not having a sink, no knobs, etc....
With all I brought last year for members, I had to sleep with a fascia in my bed because there was not enough room on the 3rd floor to handle half the shit I brought.
I' like others would prefer the hospitalities again like the HW, they respect us and "most" of us respect them and clean up after our selves, wether its the same night or the next morning. The only issue I personally ever had with the HW is shade or coverage when we are all out there in the scorching heat.
Thats where the other motel was nice, they had plenty of shade for us to cool down, but it seems it was not enough to satisfy the other issues.
Has anyone explored something a little closer to Carlisle for about the same price? or are we still stuck where we are at due to the event pricing?

^that last line is the issue, the closer you get to carlisle the hotels start jacking up rates around car show time because they know they can :cussing:

Yeah, last year booking ahead at Motel 6, they quoted me for the one closer to the fairgrounds, and it was substantially higher. I finally got connected to someone that had a clue for the Harrisburg M6.

Yeah, the overhang at the Motel 6 was key for the rain, but I'll also remind everyone that the Harrisburg West gave us their conference room for pizza (and coincidentally, for rain as well that year). The shady parking lot was nice at the Motel 6, but practically everything else was better at the HW.

At the HW, we never had to worry about being quiet because of a freaking softball team. The Mote 6 manager obviously had a brain fart about which group they were making more money from!

That was so much fun!!!

To be fair... the HW still hasn't cleaned up our mess... Our bottles/cases of beer still sat in and around the trashcans.. Facts, I saw it last year when I drove by to see the old hotel

i've booked a room through my work, but at a different hotel. i'll be staying at the hampton inn gettysburg. hard to argue with $29/night using my employee discount.

i should be bringing my sxt this year as long as my srt swap is finished by then (which i'm hoping it is since i've already registered it for the showfield) and my buddy should be bringing his red srt again this year.

if any of you guys from va/nc/md want to tag along for the trip up there, feel free.

Hoping to have another neon, or at least car sometime in may

worst case scenario is me and the wife will be there in her sentra :)

we both can't wait to see everyone, we've got to make up for our lack of attendance last year

Swing by my place and grab my car. I'll drive the Daytona out and you and Karli can drive my Neon. Same car you had, just no stripes and no automatic.
