i loved my shadow

that thing took a bunch of abuse. i would dump the clutch at near redline and spin them until they wouldn't spin or bounce off the rev limiter. 140000 on the OEM clutch.

yeah, those were the days when clutches lasted. that car had 210,000 on the clutch when i screwed up the engine. i could have kept going, but i decided to replace it while the engine was out

Thats a pretty cool CAI.

Those 3.0s are strong engines.

yeah, i thought so too. it's just the stock tube (cut) and some exhaust pipe. then i slapped an APC filter on the end

and sorry Jerry, i'd do it but i'm in no way trying to mod this. i did all that the first time i owned it. it's just a winter beater.... but if you still have them in the summer i MIGHT think about it. i think this summer i'm gonna pull it apart and rebuild the motor, probably port the heads.

i forgot to mention... the clutch pedal is all fucked up. the cable tore right through it. so that's the FIRST thing on the list for the summer. maybe earlier if the half assed fix shits out on me. and it also has a hair line crack in the passenger trailing arm that i gotta patch up like i did to the other side when my buddy broke it. and i'm gonna MAKE a new sway bar for the rear cause it's broken in half and some idiot did a shit ass job welding it together.

i paid $400. has new tires (less than 1000 miles) and new clutch and throw out bearing (about 5000 miles). i was with him when he bought both things, tires ($350 installed) and clutch and throw out bearing (about $225) so i think i got a good deal

My mom has the same car (I think hers is a 92) and drove it down here from PA. so I could work on detailing it and getting it tuned up and such. Right now I think it has 86k miles on it.
That 3.0 engine in that little car is pretty damn fun to drive, I was a little surprised I must say.
I told her I got dibs if she decides to sell it!

BTW those white lace/multi-spoke (whatever you call 'em) rims are a TOTAL pain to clean!!

yeah, tell me about it. i had to clean them for 2 years. and just an FYI yeah, they're fast as shit. when my buddy had it he raced another friend with an SRT and it stays with till half way through 2nd

I'm a fan of the Shadow/Duster, but notsomuch of the Mitsu SOHC 3.0L V6. It's good for a round-towner, but I guess after owning two turbo Chryslers.... I just can't imagine a Shadow/Duster without one :)

BUT... I do know that there are some guys who have done lots with the Mitsu 3-liter engine in their Dodges, so you're not without options if you get bored and want to turn the beater in to the project.

Fair enough, here you go:

Donovan's Dodge Garage 3.0L V6 Database:
http://www.thedodgegarage.com/30v6.html

Some of the links are dead, but it's a good place to start.

Edit: some more info on the Mitsubishi "6G72" engine:
http://sith.streetracing.org/6g72.htm

Edit #2: Fidanza makes adjustable cam gears for it:
http://tearstone.com/shop/97-04-Diamant ... Gears.html

Camshafts:
http://tearstone.com/shop/Camshaft/RPW- ... C-24v.html

Camshaft and gears set:
http://tearstone.com/shop/Camshaft/RPW- ... r-Set.html

Long tube headers for 6G72:
http://tearstone.com/shop/RPW-Headers/R ... 72/74.html

On all those pages, to the lefthand side, there's a list of options... this tearstone.com site has lots for this engine.

According to this site, there is a 6G72 turbo kit from HKS:
http://www.sumopower.com/hksturbo.htm

This is the engine found in Galant and 3000GT non-turbo/Dodge Stealth non-turbo of the same year. I'm sure someone out there has a supercharged 6G72, maybe you should browse around on cardomain.com for someone who's done alot.

Nice man. So you sold it and got it back?
Looks like a great beater/project car.

I almost bought that body style, but it had the 2.5 4 banger. It was a 5 speed too. Guy was asking too much for it and it was leaking by the exhaust manifold.

thanks ARRO, you seem to have looked into this before.

Mods that work:
Underdrive pulley .............................. 6-7 hp (dyno tested, A. Taylor)
52 mm throttle body ......................... 6-7 hp (dyno tested, A. Taylor)
K&N Cone filter ................................. 6-8 hp (dyno tested)
8-9 mm spark plug wires ................. .1-.2 tenths in quarter mile.
180F degree thermostat ................... 4-5 hp (dyno tested)
Bumping timing 2-3 degrees ............ .1-.2 tenths in quarter mile.
Mobil 1 motor oil ................................ 3 hp (dyno tested, A. Taylor)
2.5" exhaust system with no cat...... .3-.4 in quarter mile (Cliff Sebring)
Nitrous Oxide ..................................... 50-150 hp (Cliff Sebring)
(A larger fuel pump is needed at higher hp levels)

i've already got the cold air intake, and no cat. i also have 7mm wires.

i also found this site from a company just on the other side of the state. i think i'm gonna make this car my summer project. the VW/Audi shop not even 2 miles from my house is gettin a dyno in the spring. we'll see what i can put down when i'm done

Cliff is the man when it comes to FWD Dodges.

I drove the car that proved the exhaust gains in the quarter. Fun little car.

The TB definitly creates more power, but we couldn't run it on that car because it was illegal in Stock eliminator. Cliff told me he wished he could run it. It came off of a caravan or something like that.

I'm good friends with Cliffs son too.

sweet. i just noticed something in ARRO's post. all those tearstone.come links are for a DOHC non-turbo. this thing is a SOHC.

edit: the 52mm TB comes off caravan's with 3.0L's from '88-'89. i did a little bit of research before i sold it

another edit: i went to forwardmotioninc.com and looked at their 3.0L section. i figure between them and the site below i'll put slightly ofer $1000 into this and i'll have one mean machine for next winter. with shipping we'll say $1500 including purchase of the car and i'll have a winter beater that puts down around 170-180 HP. not bad if you ask me

this is the site that i found.
