I drive my Neon every day and I love it, but it wil never be my Daytona. That car meant the world to me. Just found some old pictures of it. Depressing indeed.

The car I'm building right now is basically a Shelby minus the brakes. It has 4-wheel disc, but they're the smaller ones with non-vented rears. I never had any problem stopping the one pictured above with rear drums, so even the smaller 4-wheel disc package will do fine. That car stopped REALLY well for a car that has about the same size brakes as a Neon, but 600lbs heavier.

As far as the GLH comment... I came SO close to getting a carbed 1985 GLH. The body was mint, but the engine had some nasty knocking. My plans were to build a 2.4L turbo car, and starting with a non-EFI car puts you in the worst (and most expensive) scenario to accomplish that. If the car were already turbo, I wouldn't have thought twice about it. After working with my Daytona, I'm glad I started with an EFI car.

Good looking Daytona man! I always loved those wheels. Are they the 15's or 16's? I assume 15 since I didn't think it was the CS. They are the wheels we put on my brother's '93 Shadow ES. In fact, it looked like a smaller version of your car, color, two tone and everything

And am I correct in my assumption that you added Turbo K-car hood vents to your hood? Just wondering.

Ah...the good old days. *Sigh*

Those are the 15" wheels. They are off of a 1992 Shadow ES that probably looked identical to your friend's, same color and everything.

I do have the directional 16" Shelby Pumpers on my mutant Daytona. My favorite wheel from this time period by far.

The vents were there when I bought it. The previous owner claims that there is a dent under one of them, so I never removed them.

Ah, got ya. I'm with you on the 16's...sexiest wheel of the 80's! Or 90's come to think of it.

Oh, you have a PM sir.
