Trip to Kentucky (56k = epic fail)

Post by glasswars » Tue Jun 24, 2008 4:13 pm

So I've been gone for the weekend. Me and my friend took the Neon and went to see our favoriate band, MONO an ambient/post-rock band, play their only 2008 U.S. show (they're from Japan) in Louisville, KY at the Terrastock 7 music festival. The car performed flawlessly, no noises, or anything that would worry someone on a road trip. Got 30-35 MPG with A/C on. :)

Took it up to 115 at one point, let off though, but man Ohio is really flat! ;)

Kentucky is pretty dramatic, or at least I make it look that way.

At the hotel - the Neon always gets the best spot. :)

Another mind blowing performance. This was my 8th time seeing them. People who hadn't seen them before were crying by the end of the set. The fact that it was outside on a awesome clear night made it so much cooler. The band had pretty much shit themselves when they saw we came all the way from NJ. They are so nice too, which made it even more worth it. The drummer gave us one of his cymbals which was awesome! Still waiting on some pictures from another photographer of us and the band. I'm uploading a sweet video right now too, google video is taking rather long to process it.. but yeah, it was a great time!

Damn man, looks like a great time! (I have Halcyon playing in the background right now :D )

I got excited at first but I confused Mono with Boa (they did the theme song to Lain) but Mono is very cool as well

The pictures are awesome! BTW, the MD shot you have appears to be Cumberland gap on Interstate 76. Very pretty there. And yes, Ohio is very flat
If I could just figure out how to meld the Outback and the Neon into one car...

that's the joys of farmland! Try growing up around here and finding a fun place to drive... it doesn't happen much. :?

I'm jealous of the road trip, i've got to say. I wish I had the time/motivation to drive across several states JUST to go to a concert. But alas, there's no way I'd rack up that many miles on the car, no funds, and no where to go for me. I DO have the vacation time saved up... I just need to find something to use it on.

I'll check the band out when I get home, I've become quite the fan of 70% of the bands you've listed off.

Thanks! I hope you like the song. :)
And yeah I think that was the name of the mountain. The GPS took us the weirdest way.

I know you'll like them, I haven't found one person I've introduced the band too that doesn't like them.

I love living in the mountains :D and we have lots of farmland around here too. The road I live on is like a miniature point-to-point course (about 9/10th of a mile long.)
Brother will kill brother Spilling blood across the land
Killing for religion Something I don't understand
Fools like me, who cross the sea And come to foreign lands
Ask the sheep, for their beliefs Do you kill on God's command?
