yup, grabbed a 1GN for a daily driver, but not for me. I got a call about a 1GN in need before it went to the crusher.I contacted the owner and now I got a white 98 4Dr in my driveway. The plan was to fix it for the 18yyear old babysitter that can't afford a car, we'll now I get the word after snagging the car, paying towing charges, she has something else in mind :banghead: go figure, charity work backfires as usual!
Now I got a 1GN taking up space in my driveway and I'm undecided what to do with the car.....
Fix it: needs an engine rebuild and possibly a trani
Scrap it:maybe I'll get my money back?

Just get your money back if you can. If that means selling or scraping, then do it. A rebuild would be a hassle for a DD.

trash it.
dd's aren't suppost to need rehauls

and i see this taking time/money away from your SC project

I found a first gen on craigs list for $450, "I will NOT sell to anyone intending to drive it." Not a problem, I'll just pick it up with my uncle and his truck, then drive it when I get home! I might look into it. [/thread jack]

I'm currentyl at:
$100 for the car
$75 for towing charges
I know one thing though, while I'm deciding on what to do with it, I could use it as the mock up vehicle for my supercharger project
$175 engine stand with 4 doors

Stick in it the babysitter's butt for not telling you before you spent money on a car for her.

I'd rebuild it and sell it. You could probably put a few hundred into repairs and a couple days labor, then turn around and sell it for 5 times what you have into it. Any good running car is worth at least $1000 IMO.

I ended up going to Wally world today, picked up $10 worth of oil and went home. I dump all the oil into the crankcase and swapped in my Optima red top for cranking power. The motor turned hard at first but it started to crank over faster and then the engine fired up! I ran it as long as I could but there was no fuel in the tank!
I drove and picked up 5gal of fuel to dump into the tank of the 1GN and it ran perfect! No issues what so ever, nothing!
Now that the 1GN is running perfect, im considering using it as the daily beater so the R/T can be upgraded....

Drive it till the wheels fall off then throw away when done.

Purple Heart will take it, you may even get a tax credit. For the ~$200 you have into it whats the harm?

I agree with the tax part. Fix it up, donate it, and you'll get some good tax deductions for next year.

Or just drive the living snot out of it.

Slush box but so far shifts smooth.I'm working on borrowing a dealer tag from work to try to get this thing up there for further inspection.Granted it just passed NYSI last November, I stll want to get it up in the air on a lift to find out how it is underneath and where exactly the oil leak is.It probably a rear main seal, but that never happens on a neon

little update:
I borrowed a dealer tag to road test the car, loaded up the kids and away I went.Everything was going great, put about 20miles on it and met up with Vicki at work so the kids could see her.Shut the car off and about 15min later I went to start it and the starter had gone bad :banghead:
After trying to figure out what to do for 2hrs I ended up having someone that I have not seen for years just happen to stop by and they looked at the car and offered me $400 on the spot for it.I told them what it needed and they stated they did not care
So I loaded up the kids into Vik's sebring and left the car there....
Not bad:
$100 for the car
$75 to have it towed 30min to my house
$15 gas and oil
-$190 out
$400sold
Easy $210 profit
I should start loking for more 1GN's to resell there easy money
