If you're wondering what it feels like go get a big Rubbermaid storage thing from walmart put some foam in the bottom step in and have a friend hit you in the neck with a sledgehammer pretty much the same sensation. I still have yet to feel a car change direction that quickly.

I agree with Blair 100%

Yesterday at the VW meet there was 3 evos. The owner of the 09 took me for a spin. I merged onto I95 ramp doing 90mph that car did not even lose grip for a second ( at this point i was almost flying out the window) It was insane and VERY VERY quick car.
Seats are so comfy and when taking turn it keeps you steady. Car is worth every penny IMO.

But I think i would take a 2010 camaro SS-2. Now that Car is str8 up balling.[/quote ]

Yeah, but a $60K EVO? Come on...

See thats the problem with you guys. Forget the fact its an evo. Look at the tech in the car. see beyond a Mitsubish logo and lancer badge. Some of the new bmw/lexus/audi/benz dont have half the tech this car has. But its at the same price range, right?? I bet if the evo had a BMW badge every1 would say "WOW such a cheap BMW'. Its all a matter of logo my friend!

What tech?

Its the same old shi* with some leather, dynamat, and bells and whistles. Oh and its heavier....great idea.

"Standard on the Touring are things like a new higher-res info display between the gauges, an Evo-first moonroof, and genuine leather-covered heated Recaros. The car gains a few pounds with the extra equipment and additional soundproofing – even though it saves a bit by dropping the rear wing in favor of a small lip spoiler. The full list of standard and optional features can be found after the jump along with full pricing information. We've also added a new gallery of high-res pics so you can see all of the detail changes for yourself. At $40,000-$50,000 Mitsubishi is entering highly competitive waters, but we think they will find plenty of buyers. After all, the Evo has never been afraid of a little competition."

You don't buy an EVO to wipe your ass for you. You buy an EVO to whoop some ass on the tarmac.

And all these "luxury" cars that keep getting mentioned are friggin europeon taxi cabs. I'm not impressed. Though, a 135 might be a really fun little car. :]

I DONT WANT ANY OF THAT ON MY SPORTS CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!(specifically the BMW badge)

I appreciate the old evo being built for a purpose but I still dont like them, sure they are great to drive and can make anybody look fast but at the end of the day you are doing a 50/50 split while driving, you're doing half the work. Give me $60,000 and Im straight off to buy a 2gn viper acr AND an Elise. Both are drivers cars, both if put in the correct environment will spank the evo(Pocono gets the Viper, Summit Point gets the Elise)

This evo perpetuates the idea that the BMW M3 is god's gift to the automobile and I refuse to accept that

The EVO GSR and MR are still catered to whooping some ass on the tarmac. The MR Touring is marketed to a different crowd, people who want to have fun, but also want the creature comforts that aren't available on the normal models.

What other car do you suggest Mitsubishi use to appeal to that segment of the car world? The Evo already has lots of millions of dollars of development into it and it is an established name world wide.

As much as y'all want to put it down, I think it is worth the shot. I think Mitsubishi is taking a risk in America but it's a risk worth taking.

God damnit.
Don't worry Jeff, You drive an A4 which is more of the "little sister" or "desperate housewife" car.

To qualify as a "cock" car it has to be an S4, S5 or similar.

Personally I want the GSR drivetrain(I like shifting dont care if the computers are better at it) in sleek, lightweight, gorgeous, and, simple chassis. Let the evo go "up market" and hopefully prevent the world from being poisoned with so many BMWs. I want a real sports car and they have screwed themselves out of that market

The haven't stopped building the GSR or MR. They are just adding another trim level. I don't understand how they have screwed themselves out of the Sports Car Market.

^ I think he's talking Bimmers.

Mitsu seems to be edging towards the STI Limited and one-upping what Subie did with that car.
I think a limited run of the touring edition EVO would give Mitsu a good idea as to whether or not there is demand for such a trim level.

^ I was to a point. But the MR is what still $40,000? The GSR being the entry level is over $30,000 that is a lot of money. When I read the pre-launch stuff for the 10 they kept mentioning about going up market and competing with the likes of BMW, Mercedes, and, so on I dont see why the Japanese are returning to the 1980s where they refused to be Japanese they had to copy the European's and they are trying to do that again. When the Japanese build Japanese cars they build some brilliant stuff.

Meh the Lotus groupie has to go culk up the hood, it looks like rain

these cars will out handle a bmw m3, a porche 911 turbo, a z06 corvette, the sti, and plenty other high end cars the chasis and suspension is inspired by the enzo per what the engineer from mitsubishi said so i really think they are worth every penny its just that 40 to 50k is a hard number to swallow thats all

I understand what Mitsu. is trying to do with aiming at a "different" market with this EVO but at the end of the day its still a 40-50K for an EVO which has its roots as a sub 20K econo box Lancer. Way to expensive for a mid/compact car with a low rent badge (i.e. you dont think of Mitsu as an "expensive" brand like BMW, Benz, Lexus, etc).

Dont get me wrong, I love the EVO and Mitsu. I really do have a soft spot for them. I just dont see them selling a lot of them (not that they are trying to. This is for a very "select" market as stated before).

The only real direct competitor IMO would be a fully loaded BMW 1 series or Audi A3? (the small one). Your looking at the same market with both cars. And If I had to pick one to buy with my money it would be the Mitsu.

But like most of us on 2gn (or the general public for that matter) I am not a part of this target market. So Ill stick with the EVO 8 RS "Urban Jungle".

Just as a point

Evo runs A-stock
The other 3 run Super-Stock
One would think that you are wrong.

Top Gear power lap times:
EvoX: 1.28(82nd fastest car)
911 GT2: 1.19.5(19th fastest)
C6 Zo6: 1.22.4(25th fastest)
E90 M3: 1.25.3(47th fastest)

The old FQ400 did beat the M3 with a 1.24.8(42nd fastest)

^^Was just going to comment on that...taking out the m3 just because I don't consider it a car in the same group as the 911 or z06 - these two cars would run better in just about every category.

And if Mitsu wanted to target the the 50k+ group it is going to have to have a v8 or euro-style v6 turbo.

The older people paying this kind of money wont care about the technology that is in the car, and certainly wont want to brag to their friend that drives a corvette about his turbo 4 cylinder.

I would never ever pay that money for that thing. They must be fk'n crazy.

They should stay in the compact car fanboi market. They're not going to pull asses from other luxurious cars. If guys want something like that, they'll customize a base model etc.

It sells pretty well over in Europe. It's worth a shot to try to sell them in the United States. If it doesn't do well they aren't out much.
