Phooey on my week already... and dumb criminals...

dumb ass PG county criminals. My car and one other was broken into when I was parked in a pathetic gated community in Mitchelville/Largo MD (south PG). They didnt break any other window but my sunroof. They ripped off my ribbon that was around my rear view mirror.. and took the key to my neon that I wrecked two years ago.
so... they broke the most difficult window... and took a key to a car that doesnt exist.
DUMBEST CRIMINALS EVER.... to think someone would leave the key to a car HANGING in the window. dumbasses. I would of preferred they took something I can replace... like my radar detector that was out in the open.
Did I mention I also saw them? In the SUV next to me... taking their sub box. they spoke to me. I am pretty sure the only reason I didnt get shot/raped/stabbed is because they were too dumb to... or the pathetic white girl crying about her car made them feel bad.

this is the only pic I can find right now of what they took
its just the key on a pink ribbon with a Dodge Neon pin (limited edition). the CF heart I gave to someone a while ago so that was not in the car.
Mod Edit: I edited your title to remove the cursing -racer12306

didn't really know a sunroof was a valid point of entry.

Wow, that sucks. Sorry to hear about this. Did they just break the glass or mess up the track, too?
Ntyvirus1 wrote:didn't really know a sunroof was a valid point of entry.
Apparently it is when you are just after a something on the rearview mirror...

they coulda got it just as well from a side window lol
I dont know if the tracks are messed up from the blow or not. ill find out if there is more damage when insurance looks at it tomorrow.
they did scratch up the top of my glove box too when they ripped off the key. probably from glass chunks or something.
im getting that.. the mirror and the glass covered by insurance. gotta go check for paint scratches too

what do you mean by you saw them..
did the police catch them then..?
and it sucks to hear about the breakin. at least no major damage was done besides a broken roof window.

If only you lived in the tv/movie world... they could take the voice from 15 feet away, clear up the background noise and get a lock on whoever was talking to you.
If only...

Too bad you didn't take your cell phone and snap a picture of them.
Good luck, Tina, happens to all of us.

cell phone wouldnt of done it. I did have my cameras with me... but honestly.. a $3000 camera isnt worth the $500 id pay to fix all of this. (deductible)

Damn this sucks. Good thing the damage wasn't too bad.
I think the lesson here is to not leave keys visibly hanging from your mirror to provoke any kind of future break-ins. I'll keep that in mind now. lol

That blows, maybe they thought that key was to your car. They broke the glass to get the key and m tried to unlock your door with it.. once it didn't work, they just said fuck it.
Thats what i can think of..
Note to self
*don't leave key hanging on the rear view mirror in plan sight for someone to break into and try to start car with...*
Edit: could be worse... they could have done an upperdecker in your sunroof

^ I was thinking the samething. I had someone steal an uncut key from my car, along with the fob for my autostart.

they probably think they can sell it now. I dont see why they would keep it.
my buddy found my limited edition olympic dodge neon pin in the snow. it still had the backing on.. so they tore that ribbon. its wired ribbon too. lol talk about desperate.
my friends mother is giving the corporate office hell about this whole thing since its a gated community and the security is obviously bull shit. shes trying to make sure they pay for my repairs and maybe even a professional cleaning for my interior.
the other vehicle owner thanked me because shes pretty sure I scared them off. They were not able to get the TVs from her head rests or her head unit (which was just left dangling).

That's nice....I'm glad there are people like that to steal stuff from hard-working people.
It amazes me how stupid some people are and the lengths they will go to to show off their stupidity.
Hope everything gets fixed like it never happened - minus the lost key and damaged limited edition stuff.

Sorry to hear that your car was broken into, I personally feel your pain it happened to me last February. However, while almost all criminals are dumb, hanging the key from your rear view, as sentimental as it was, definitely triggered it to happen. Their lack of intellect is what made them think it was the key TO your car....but hanging it there was asking for trouble.
The fact that it happened in a gated community is even more bullshit.....aren't they supposed to be "gated" for a reason? Talk about a false sense of security.

I got to park my car out front of work today so I could "keep an eye on it. "
and totally went to work with my helmet on because it was noisy as hell.. and glass kept falling on my head.
hells yes. lol
I am going to the body shop in the morning to drop it off. geico said it would be up to 48 hours before an adjuster looks at it because of all the accidents from this weekend.

tucked in for the night.
one thing I am glad about... one of my "rare" items was found. I wish it was the key.. but hey.. its something!

the backing is even there.. which is weird.

You hang a key in your window and didn't see this coming?
Did you think it being in plain sight would be enough to cause criminals to come to that conclusion that it couldn't possibly be to the vehicle? Come on now, never overestimate a POS car thief.
AND you saw them but didn't make sure they were caught? I would have chased them on foot!

Too bad crooks don't jack off everywhere and it's like CSI where they can track you down by a semen data base.

Dude. Derek. Seriously, maybe you or I could of stepped to these guys, but I don't blame Trinity for just taking a step back and just calling the cops. Nothing in either car was worth her putting herself in harms way. As far as chasing em down, after about 5 steps I would be left in the dust. So I will let you chase em down and I will catch up and give you some back up bud.

sorry ive underestimated the stupidity of an area I hardly park in lol
most thieves in this area are not that DUMB. I just had to get the dumb ones.
and I wasnt chasing after ANYONE. im a freakin small white girl... id get my ass handed to me or killed in this county.

All thieves are dumb in some way or another, they're stealing. I'm really surprised GEICO doesn't have a glass company I know Nationwide does. If you have a glass claim they're supposed to send a truck out immediately to fix it free of charge. They don't have a glass division???
