Help me like DRIFTING

Post by silversport » Fri Mar 19, 2010 10:20 am

Basically I just want to know how many of you like drifiting and why or why not. I think I've been very open and wanted to like drifting but I just can't. The first maybe 2 times I saw it I thought it was kinda cool and all the vids are really well done! cool editing and usually good music. I want to like it but I just can't

Here's 2 pics to try and get you into the drifting mood lol

my biggest pet peeve in any motorsports, is when drifting nutswingers call real racing "grip driving" put the fucking needforspeed down, and watch some f1. something that's been around for that long shouldn't be given some faggy nick name because a bunch of guys who couldn't take a corner right decided to start automotive figurskating.

My friend drifts locally, and its pretty neat. I would rather save up and time attack or rally.

Yeah 'grip' driving is a term used in Japan for racers who don't use drifting in their racing technique. There are two kinds of drifting, the kind used for show (like Formula D) and the kind used in the mountains to maintain speed around hairpin corners. Drifting is actually a racing technique used in high powered RWD cars. Even go to a local autocross, and you'll see the faster RWD cars rotate a bit; it can be faster than grip in some cases.

For me, drifting was cool back in 2002-2003 when I first got into it. Now it's played out and not nearly as interesting. I think a lot of it's appeal is going away now. I certainly wouldn't mind learning how to do it though, it looks like a blast.

Even Indy car drivers "drift" a bit. I remember watching an interview with someone several years ago talking about how they got the rear tires to drift up towards the wall coming out of one corner to get more speed.

So it's not just ricers and toolbags that drift!

Watching it in person and in a closed/control area is awesome. I think it takes some skill to keep it sideways and controlled.

I voted yes, but I would much rather watch drag racing or autocross first.

LOL it was just a thread I started to talk about drifiting and see what people think about it. It's just a title.

PS I don't think you need to much help. You just have to stop caring about what people think and except the fact that you "enjoy the company of men" LOL

www.tractionoptional.com

local drift group that hosts drift events, and even have a SCCA sponser. And yes, I love drifting and grip racing, two totally different types of racing.

I think drifting is hella koo. It takes skill and looks awesome. Those fuken arabs are crazy. That would be a form of drifting I would not like to learn. Even tho it takes some skill, it looks pretty stupid IMO. Way to fast for my taste.

Drifting alone is fine, but I'd much rather watch F1 racing like dank(r/t) mentioned because it has everything.
