Soooo... this is my grandmother's BMW. She's only like 54, so she still drives it spiritedly. When she's too old to get in and out of it, it will become my car and I plan on keeping it alive FOREVER.

... then this happened at rush hour Friday...

So, my question is, do you think it's fixable? To me, nothing is ever beyond repair, but I'm sure the insurance company will just call it totaled. The engine still starts and everything, but the frame looks pretty fucked. Sucks, I was really looking forward to making this car into a family heir loom and keeping it going forever. She's fine and it wasn't her fault. Some stupid prick of a fat bitch in a Honda turned basically right into the front of the car without using her blinker or slowing down at all so the two cars collided and this was the aftermath; one dead over-produced gook econo-box and one dead German work of art.

Hard to tell. I don't see lots of frame damage, but I'm unfamiliar with those Bimmer roadster things. Idk how BMW prices their parts, etc... Plus the year of the car, mileage, coverage, etc... Hopefully they don't write it off simply by the cost of OE Bimmer parts, but you may be outta luck :(

I'd have to see better pics of the critical stuff, like under the hood, and the frame. That's a nice car but it's not worth nearly enough to keep it out of being totaled fairly easily. I'll take that Elise in the first shot though over ANY BMW any day.

Im gonna say totalled but without pics with hood off its hard to tell my neon looked ALOT less worste and it was totaled with 6800 bucks in damage

Damn, doesn't look like good news...

I found some parts online like hood, bumper, headlights, and radiator all for around $1500 and the car is worth a hell of a lot more than that, so I know in my heart it can be saved. I just hope they don't look at it, and instantly call it totaled because it's a Z3.

Is it an M series z3 just curious? Sucks that happened to it. I think they will consider it a total loss

Totalled happens wihen it cost around 75% of what it's worth to fix it (Changes with different Insurance Agencys)

Like everyone else said. Without seeing the hood off and what the frame rails look like there is no way of telling. Frame work is expensive as hell, and the paint on that thing probably aint cheap.

Even if they do total it, you can usually buy it back and fix it since you don't have a problem fixing it anyhow. And then you can make somemoney on it.

No, just the regular 2.5i Z3 with a rare color. If it were the M, I'm sure I'd be at that lady's house with a meat clever right about now.

Pretty much, when I had less damage done on my car and it was $11k for repairs, I'm gonna have to say this is car is more than likely dead :(

Sorry dude.

Glad to hear you Grandmother is okay.

How ironic to have a accident like that kaddy corner from a GM dealer. It was such a gorgeous car too. hope it is fixable. Frikking Honda biaatch. She should be banned from driving. Very Glad your grandma is ok.

Even though it's a BMW, it isn't worth a ton of money. I put in a 2001 BMW Z3 2.5 with 50k on it into NADA and it said clean retail is about $13k.

I would guess with frame work needed and the cost of BMW parts (the biggest factor in this is whether or not there are aftermarket replacements available) I would say it's totaled.

BMW's are really expensive from the dealer.. But they go down in resale right off the lot.. So the insurance will go off of the cheap retail and most likely total it (if there is a good amount of frame damage... If its body parts and a little bit of frame damage to the front it could be fixable depending on price)

If it's not totaled - it should be. Z3's will NEVER drive the same after they get smacked like that. And once you loose the perfect feel of that car - it's worthless. Save yourself the headache.

BTW 2.8i FTW ;-)
