This thing is fairly solid, 145K on the odometer. Not bad considering its 32years old. I was going to use it for a daily driver but it needs an exhaust to start and a few other things before it could be used as a daily driver. It has a DOHC straight 6 rated at 120hp/143ft/lbs with mechanical fuel injection.

I ended up getting it for $400. But I'm not going to keep it, apparently my mother has been looking for one of these for a long time now so she is getting it delivered to her place today.

That is one loud ass beast! It definitely needs some detailing love. But for 32 years of use/neglect, not bad.

apparently its got a 3speed trani, because at 60 mph I was going deff.
Somehow I managed to drive it 45min from work to my parents house to give the car to my mother and I did not see one cop at all!
This car is a slug, the wife's conv accelerated faster than this 32year old pos, I had it to the floor and this thing would not move. Damn mechanical injection!

If it's a 280 (inline 6cyl), it should have a 4-speed auto; not a 3-speed. The 350 and 450 where the ones that had 3-speeds. So either something is wrong with that trans, or they swapped.

Also if it's a 280 SE (not the normal S), they were rated for 142hp, instead of the normal 120hp.

I love the W116 body. It's so old, but so classy.

 please: go to germany and let someone put it on tape when you ask this to a random german :P

Basically, the bavarians consider themselves not german, and all the other germans think bavarians are weird folk to say the least. Kind of like the same situation as the US and canada, with the exception it's not about two different countries :)

Mercedes originates from Stuttgart
According to the metal tag on the drivers door jam, Stuttgart is where this car was built.....
