My buddy and I took my Blazer and his 2010 F150 out for some fun yesterday. Figures I was the only one that got stuck, but I had to show off a bit!

It was so much fun it should be illegal. Although if I'm going to do much more offroading, I need to fix the AC soon, lol

Yeah, I would imagine. How's the trans handling it?

Trans was perfect. Little suspension squeak now but that might not be anything to worry about. We shall see.

Pack it with enough mud and you wont have the squeak anymore.

Jeff, you want to go turn Sean in as being Bigfoot???? I will split the reward 50/50

Eh, I remember reading something about you wanting a "more grown up " vehicle. Could have been somebody else.
Were y'all using a sprinkler to keep the mud going?

I am fairly certain that was not me. I may have said I needed a BIGGER vehicle, but not a more grown up one.

And nope, just had a crapload of rain lately, so the rut we were running through was full initially.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand yesterday my newly rebuilt trans decided not to want to work anymore. Pushed the truck into a parking lot and borrowed my sisters car again. God I hate this fucking thing.

Just got off the phone with insurance and thank God I have towing that covers anything up to $150, so I am meeting the truck after work and they're bringing it to the mechanic to look at.

I may have them drop it off at the spray and wash down the block, spray the shit out of the under carriage to get the mud off, then push it over to the mechanic.

You should probably clean the blazer off as much as possible and DELETE this thread...

by TheRandom1
Oh I'll be cleaning it before the trans guy sees it... and about the thread, well, If it turns out to be a trans problem and not something else (could be tcase, wiring, stick lodged in the shifter somehow, etc) then this thread never happened. Neither did any of the pictures or videos, etc, haha.

Very good point. Although I hear transmission warranties are much less strict than the cops, lol.

Hahaha yeah, but you just never know

Especially with the luck you run into.. lol

Yeah, you have a point there, that's for sure. God damn I hope this fucking thing doesn't need another trans. I'm gonna be really pissed if it does.

I blew a trans on a Neon too.

Transmission carnage to date:
85 Grand Prix - blown doing a burnout
76 Grand Prix - blown while accidentally tossing the car in 1st while doing 75
04 Neon - Blown due to shitty design
00 Blazer - Going bad when I bought it, then apparently mudded to death.*

*=pending mechanics inspection.

Mudded to death in one day?

You can no longer use the saying that Dodge trans suck and chevy trans are good.

The only thing you can say is I'm hard on transmissions lol.

No no no, never said Chevy trannys are good... just that Dodge ones suck.

Besides, mine was rebuilt, so it falls on the rebuild shop more than on Chebby

Hm, seems I never updated this. Trans was toasted and I negotiated a partial warranty on the 2nd rebuild.

I cleaned the fuck out of the truck, but forgot about under hood where there's mud sprayed all over (whoops) and they figured out what happened pretty quick when they pulled the trans and saw mud on the torque converter...

Image

So they pulled it apart and sent me this picture, which means nothing to me... anybody else?

Image

They were supposed to charge me $650 for the rebuild kit that has upgraded internals that should handle me offroading, and wanted another $150 to install an aftermarket trans cooler which I went for. Total bill should have been around $800. My buddy (who I borrowed the cash from) called the shop directly and paid the bill, but he told me they charged over $1,000... I tried to talk to the trans guy via email but he's not responding anymore, and my request for a receipt to be mailed to me has been ignored. Quite pissed off that they potentially overcharged me, and still working on trying to get a copy of the receipt.

But right now the truck is running fairly well, and the trans hasn't blown up again, so that's good.

However, once I have the first loan finally paid off, I really need to figure out a misfire that's developed. Hopefully it's not the spider injector, since I don't want to spend several hundred on this thing...again.

Also tossed a canister of AC recharge and stop leak in, and the AC works again. Not especially cold, but it's enough to keep the truck cool enough on even the hottest days. I know this because I charged it 3 days before Chicagoland hit the highest temps in 6 years and was comfortable inside. Not cold like the Neon was, but for a 40 dollar "fix" it's good enough until next spring.
