I was just finishing work Saturday night when the storm that caused the stage collapse at our state fairgrounds blew through. I drove through a dirt devil on the interstate just before my exit and the temperature dropped twenty degrees between my last pickup and the parking lot at work (about fifteen minutes). The apartment complex where I lived in the early 90's is seperated from the fairgrounds by an athletic field for the Indiana Deaf School so I could see the back of the stage from outside of my building- glad that I wasn't there Saturday night for the 70 MPH winds. I actually sat in the area where the stage fell for an Alabama concert back in the late 80's. Thoughts and prayers go out for the dead, the injured and their families.

could you imaging being one the people standing just outside the
range of the stage, and having the person just next to you getting
injured or even dying? i would be traumatized...

Damn, weird shit, but such a good video surfaced so quick. I would hate to feel helpless standing next to the stage while people are pinned. I'd feel even worse if I was one of the truly helpless ones pinned under the stage.

Now I gotta watch Cloverfield.

I still can't get over the blond woman at 0.38 smiling right after the collapse.

The only good thing about this is all of the people that immediately rushed up to the stage to help get victims out. That impressed me greatly during the live local TV coverage.

Bitches be dumb... Some people just can't grasp cause and effect.

When I saw this on the news I must have replayed the video a dozen times. This blew my mind how that rig fell. I think with a storm like that and a HUGE metal stage right infront of me my brain would have sent out some warning to get the hell away. Not because of a collapse but because of lightning.

I heard how the state fair reps were saying they were "on their way to tell people to evacuate". That should have been done ten or fifteen minutes prior! I'm sorry those people had to lose their lives and the others had to get injured.
