Great pix of the event! I'm bummed that I couldn't make it up there. You may have been oggled by a friend of mine...A.J. He does journalism work for Auto Extremist.

The event is already scheduled for 2012, so hopefully that means it's permanent.
People better not bitch about the noise as it brought in millions for the city and state.

Yeah traffic was insane on Friday...took me an hour to drive to a parking lot once I reached the city and then i had to walk half the city looking for entrances because there wasnt any proper signage....annoying. I understand it was their first time doing the event so it was trial and error...but damn lol. And then they were supposed to practice and qualify friday at 9am but the drivers were freaking out over the roads (even though they were repaved...baltimore city streets are ASS) and they ended up repaving a bunch and covering manholes and such the day of....it was a disaster.

People are morons.
A local concert venue (Hosts: Ozzfest, Lollapalooza, The Mayhem Festival, Vans Warped Tour) can no longer crank the music due to the newer residents complaining/passing a noise ordinance. It has been open since 1968.
Awesome pics BTW!

Englishtown Raceway has a similar problem.
The track has been there since the 60s but people that moved in many years after raised all kinds of hell about the noise that brings millions in tourist dollars every year.

It's the same shit when people move near a Theme Park and then complain about the noise or fireworks. Do these people realize how much these events or places benefit the local economy and how many people they employ. uggh

Every year back in WA State when the Blue Angels fly over Lake Washington. Half of the people around the lake compain about the noise they make. And no, no one realizes how it benefits the local economy. They are just worried about themselves and their precious little yap dogs that are scared of the noise.

Back when I lived in California. Our local government told NASA "No Thanks." When NASA wanted to spend money on and use the abandoned Castle Air force Base. They were worried about Noise and Falling Debris. Didn't even consider the jobs, people, money, etc that NASA would of brought to the area. Fast Forward 10 years or so and Castle Air Force Base is still pretty much abandoned and falling apart. The Local economy sucks, and Merced county has one of the worst problems with foreclosures.
Always found it funny that the town would complain about noise when it's an old military town and the base was the West Coast Hub for the B-52 Bomber 93d Bombardment Wing. There used to be continuous flights of the B-52s for many many years and those bitches were loud.

We moved to a new neighborhood this month and it's right around the corner from a dragstrip. We LOVE that you can hear the muscle cars on a Friday and Saturday night. No way we would complain.
