I think that's my least fav chop actually. I really am starting to be worried about the SRTDart...

Rumors of AWD, Automatic only, $32k+ price tag, etc etc etc.

I may just stick to an R/T instead.

That better not be what happens to the srt dart..

What is with Dodge and their love for the autocraptic transmission...

The only saving grace for me when it comes to Chrysler Group automatics is where they're made (Kokomo, IN). I do have to be honest and admit that I've never owned a Chrysler product with an automatic (have driven several belonging to my parents though).

I like automatic transmissions ...
My 52 Chevy street rod has a Mopar 360 crate motor with a Torqueflite 727 transmission ...
I wouldn't want a 4-speed in my car ... let the flaming begin

I wouldn't want a 4 speed of that vintage either.

I would put one of the newer selections of MTX in there.

Altho the 727 with a good shift kit does have it's entertaining qualities. Well, behind a big block.

It does have a "high stall speed" torque converter ... it's not a race car, it shows well, and sounds good ... but it's overpowered for the primitive suspension.

Our spy photographers have caught something interesting rolling around Auburn Hills. This Dodge Dart R/T wears some interesting matte gray paint as well as a set of 19-inch wheels wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero performance rubber. It's difficult to tell from this vantage, but the sedan may sit slightly lower than other models we've seen as well. Of course, it's difficult to miss the aggressive hood scoop planted front and center. Don't get too excited, though. Odds are this is not the much-rumored SRT-4, but rather a special one-off whipped up for the 2012 SEMA show next month. That hood, for example, comes straight from the Mopar catalog.

Still, we wouldn't rule out Dodge offering a matte paint on the Dart option sheet. If Hyundai can make the coating viable on a large volume model like the Veloster, there's certainly nothing stopping Chrysler from doing the same. Keep your ear to the ground for more information.

Honestly, with the performance you can get with a 1.4L and the Magneti Marelli computer, I don't even know if I'd bother spending the money on an R/T, nevermind the SRT. Granted, I'm not looking for a tire fryer for a daily driver. 190+hp would fit the bill just fine.

Many things will take place between now and when my Neon is finally too tired to serve its purpose. So who knows.

200-250hp in a midsize vehicle is plenty for a daily driver, as I know from my R/T....

Random quotes from allpar.com... Kind of old info but it was new to me and maybe for you guys..
Ralph Gilles posted a brief Twit, saying that Chrysler had not released the SRT Dart’s 4.5-second 0-60 time picked up by some sources, including our own presence at the dealer conference in Las Vegas. That level of acceleration would be exceptional even for high-performance cars in the four-cylinder compact class, and many believe the actual times will be closer to six seconds. That would also make it easier for the car to be released with the more-affordable front wheel drive configuration, without severe torque-steer problems.

The 4.5 second time might be accurate — Gilles did not say it was or was not. We do believe 5.4 seconds is more likely, and in tune with competitive cars
According to our sources, the cars shown at the Las Vegas dealer meeting included both a Dart R/T, which is due to start full production in January 2013 (delayed from August 2012), and a Dart SRT4. Update: the SRT4 shown was yellow, with a black hood and wheels. Chrysler has started contrasting colors with some cars, featuring black roofs on other-color bodies.
Yesterday, we reported that the Dart SRT4 was shown to dealers. Today, we were told that it was now called Dart SRT, rather than SRT-4, and that the “black hood” is actually a carbon fiber hood.
Some really good info here...

In a nutshell from this link ^^^
He made sure to reiterate that nothing was official but heres a few things he did say.

AWD- still being discussed. Considering offering both AWD and FWD
Early meetings they were aiming for 290-310 hp
Price cant be discussed at this time
Aiming for HID's
Started off aiming for 4 door sedan, cant say where they are now.
cant discuss DCT.

Coupe would be nice. I am one of the weirdos that would like a hatchback option like in Europe. **ducks flying tomatoes**

Let's hope that Fiat/Chrysler Group won't make the same mistake that DCX did (no AWD for the :quotes: slower-and-heavier--than-the-Neon SRT-4 :quotes: Caliber SRT-4 wannabe). FWD will be okay with me for the Dart SRT but, if AWD is mechanically possible (and affordable), kick sand at the WRX.

Hmmmm not sure how true this is:
Our sources indicate that the much anticipated 2014 Dart SRT4 will come in at least two flavors – FWD and AWD.

The drivetrain arrangement wont simply be an option on the car though, the FWD Dart SRT4 will have less horsepower, registering somewhere in the 260-280 HP range and with that come a lower sticker price. The big daddy Dart SRT4 AWD will pack as much as 350 HP and be jam packed with technology “never seen” on a car of this stature from the Chrysler Group ever before.

It has apparently been adorned the name “baby godzilla” within Chrysler and has been testing alongside the mightly Nissan GTR.

If we’re betting men, we’d assume the earliest you’ll see either example will be at the New York Auto Show in March.

Excited for March to hopefully finally be able to see it! I am sure it will be sick...

As heavy as the Dart is, the FWD version would be a repeat of the Caliber SRT-4 :puke:
