05 PT Cruiser GT in Vanilla Creme
5 speed Getrag
2.4 turbo
Leather, sunroof, cruise control and rear power windows
1 previous owner. 61 years old.
Car is gorgeous inside and out. I did pay over KB, but it was worth it.

I do have the factory chrome 5 spokes. They came off since they had summer performance tires on them. Guy online was selling a nice set of factory SRT-4 wheels that were not painted black with winter tires. So I picked them up and put them on. Surprised how much lighter the SRT wheels are then the PT GT rims.

You can send me the electronic doo-dad from your car that makes the headlights stay on after using the key fob to unlock the doors. Why DCX didn't have that feature on Neons has always baffled me, especially since the two vehicles have much in common.[/rant]

Oh, nice car by the way.

I kind of like them, as long as I never have to work in the engine bay.

Honestly didn't know it had that. I press the button to unlock it. The signals flicker but they don't stay on. :/

The transmission and the motor is 90% of the reason why I bought it.
:D
It will look better lowered. I have a set of tein springs on like new stock SRT struts. But since the rear suspension is different I need to figure out if I can use Tein springs for the rear with some aftermarket shocks.

Yes the engine bay is going to be a PITA to work in. But on the bright side, when I work on any other car I will have less complaints on those cars.

It does have the plastic intake manifold, Chrysler was the first company to mass produce a plastic IM on a turbo car.

Hmmm... I've had a few earlier MY PT Cruiser rentals and their headlights would stay on when unlocking with the remote. Maybe Chrysler "decontented" this feature on the '05's?

I have bnib St suspension lowering springs. Which is a sub company of kw. Still have them. 1.5" drop. Ride nice. Will say add a 01-02 rear sway bar to the car. My buddies 03 pt gt handles so much nicer with the same drop springs and rear sway. I can get the rear sway with brackets, links and bolts for 20 bucks. Springs 60 plus shipping they are yours

Right on, thanks. 01/02 rear sway bar? I take it they ran a sway bar back then, I wonder why they got rid of them. Will the springs work well on stock struts?

Negative on the lights staying on when you use the keyfob.

The light delay is probably a function of the RKE module. Probably controls a relay that bypasses the light switch. Whether or not the modules are all the same, and the relay/wiring was left out, is hard to say.

They dropped it to cut costs just like the neon. And they say they made the rear beam stronger with a built in bar that really doesn't work that well in my opinion as well as other pt owners As for working on stock struts so far my buddies pt with 150k on stock original stuff is riding fine with those springs

Which key on the fob? The only reference i saw was to the EVIC (electronic vehicle information center) which is inside the car. Still may not be available on your 05 though i suppose. Do you have an overhead console? I'd assume that's the EVIC they're referring to

No because it has noyhing to do with te fob other than activating it when you unlock or lock the car. You enable the setting through the EVIC. Which we dont even have.

Already ordered a few things for it. Two of those items being Excel-G struts/shocks and ST springs from a23dranger.

2006 and prior I don't think had this feature.

Does the dome supervision light turn on when you use the unlock via the fob? If so you could use a relay on the dome supervision wire to throw the headlight wire to 12v+. If we had retained accessory power you could also do something with that but I don't think any neons had RAP. If you go the way of using the dome light to trigger the headlamps you'd also likely want to use a diode or two.

There also might be a way to do similar things using a relay and capacitor to keep the relay closed even after the trigger signal voltage is gone. The time the relay would remain closed would depend on the value of the capacitor.

Few ways to skin that cat.

I was curious about production numbers.. So I emailed Chrysler about a month ago. Finally got a response. Was surprised!
Thank you for contacting the Chrysler Customer Assistance Center.

According to our records, there were 3,827 Chrysler PT Cruiser GT units built for the 2005 model year. Of those vehicles, 237 units were equipped with a 5-Speed HD Manual G288 Transmission, of which 21 units were also equipped with Cool Vanilla Clear Coat paint.

Thanks again for your email.

Sincerely,

Tony
