Forward into the past with David Letterman

I thought of this after reading today that Letterman announced his upcoming retirement. I can remember watching Dave when I was in junior high school. The "Clover Power" show was the local 4-H program that was broadcast on Sunday mornings and he treated the farm kids he interviewed just like he treats the celebrities now... the kids never knew what hit them. He also did "news" reports on the local :quotes: underground :quotes: FM station in the early '70's:

My favorite "Dave-ism" is the time that, during a weather broadcast on WLWI (now WTHR), he mentioned that one of his weather spotters had reported "hail the size of canned hams."

Without really researching: When is he leaving and who is replacing him? I watched him in the 90's and early 2000's then I started to watch Jay Leno.

Great early footage.

I certainly hope Tina fey or Ellen do not take over his place in late night, I do not think either of them are funny enough to fill his role.

After watching the great job that Ellen did at this year's Academy Awards, I think that she would do well but I doubt that she would want to give up her daytime job (literally  ).
