0172 will come back until you get your AFC installed, but that comes from the upstream sensor, not the downstream.

Hey i was just thinking.. i just used two non-foulers like everyone else.. and no cel yet.. ill let you know how long that lasts..But, what if you were to go and get maybe one or two more, and add them to the 2 non-foulers allready there.. im thinking if it got that much farther out of the exhaust stream, it might be able to keep the ecu fooled..

Any thoughts? i think if my code comes back, im just going to go and get two more.. and add them to the works.. see if i can't solve the problem.

I also want to chime in - I am using two non-fouler plugs, and get no downstream o2 cel... :D Been like that for only 1 month, but as much as I drive, that is good... 2000 miles on it thus far :D

If you're not running a catalytic converter, this moves the downstream O2 sensor out of the exhaust stream so that it reads less exhaust/emissions so that the car won't throw a check engine light.

If you're doing a full system I believe.

When you say two, do you mean like they are stuck together and the sensor is twice as far away from the stream as with just one spark plug non fouler?

Basically taking a pipe/rod and pummeling the crap out of that pretty honeycomb pictuered above, till all the King's men and all the King's horses can't put it together again, thus it falls out in little pieces. Leaving a "hollow" case. Sorry for the graphic details.

ok ty, i live in ny so the inspection laws here suck ass! and i dont really wanna buy a new cat bc i like the power i gained from gutting it, one more Q i both my 02 sensors are before the cat, this shouldn't make a diff being the cat is gutted right? upstream is in the header downstream is in the down pipe before the cat!

I also used thid mod after installing my afx lth. i threaded two 18mm non foulers together, and drilled out the center to 1/2" then welded it into the collecter on the header. Its been sever thousand miles, and no codes yet. the non foulers also work well for as weld in bungs for your wideband.

( granted that is when my gf drives the car i still get about 26-28 mpg when i drive!) i have a lead foot....

spoke to soon 5/5/08
cel is back on ! guess ill just buy a flowmaster direct fit cat.

might want to try doubling up the fowlers first.

I stacked two of them behind my high flow cat when I installed my mpx long tube and it works great, 0140 code went away right after I extended the wiring on my 2nd o2 and screwed it into place. It works.
