I got my Cam position sensor for like $9 from my neighbor because he can get me things for factory cost from autozone so that shows the rediculous markup of both autozone and a dealer.........install was very very easy and simple.
For Sale:
OBXR Mid Length Header
Next to new Motor Mounts SOLD
Prothane MM inserts SOLD
Bosal Brospeed dual tipped Muffler SOLD

Make some offers I want this stuff out of my way.

Finished this last night! The step by step and pictures were a big help. Don't forget to unbolt the heater hoses or you'll have a hell of a time getting to the bottom right nut (I some how skipped over the step for about 35 mins, then it magically appeared to me...doh) The part was only $25.79 at Advanced Autos and they had a sale on iridium spark plugs! I picked up 4 at $5.99 each... My baby purrs like a kitten again! I'm trying to see if I can fit one more exclamation point in here! Again, thanks for all the help; what a great community.

How much torque is needed when putting the bolts back in after replacing the sensor?

Just snug enough that you know they won't back out.
Install camshaft position sensor. Tighten sensor
mounting screws to 9 N·m (80 in. lbs.) torque

If it was bad, the engine would be in or near limp mode, and get less mileage. So a functioning one would improve things. I imagine they could be borderline failed, and not set a code. But it would be like replacing a high mileage o2 sensor: You don't really know if it is going to change anything until it is replaced.

If you have the proper equipment, you could tell from the output signal, but for the majority of us, it is tough to justify the cost to verify a $50 to $120 dollar part, that you might replace once or twice in 10 years or more.
