Thanks guys. I'm still searching for a good deal on a magnum manifold. I'd like to know what I'm getting into before I buy one.

Any of the Neon for sale forums. Also car-parts.com. Look for an 01+ ACR or R/T. I snagged a whole Magnum engine for $750.

Magnm engine... if you popped the hood and see a big Aluminum intake manifold it's a dead giveaway of a Magnum motor.

If you're wondering if you, optlo, have an R/T or ACR, hate to tell you but you don't since it looks like you own a 2001 and the R/T and ACRs have a different style front bumper and wheels. R/Ts came with 16" wheels while ACR came with 15" snowflakes. Both had dual exhaust. R/Ts also had sideskirts. There are other little things here and there but for the most part thats it. So unless a previous owner swapped a magnum motor into yours... you don't have a magnum :-(

To check the engine, on the head near the themostat you will have R/T stamped on it(mostly hidden by the timing belt cover), and IIRC on the block facing the rear of the car.

Just curious...

How does the stock R/T model know when throttle is wide open in order to open the MTV?

This comes stock on the base models as well, right? If that is true, why cant we use this sensor instead of using a WOT sensor... or would it be easier to use an aftermarket WOT sensor?

Because it only talks to the PCM. The PCM controls the intake on the Magnum motors. The Magnum intake in other words are PCM controlled. The Magnum/non-Magnum PCM's are not interchagable, unless you swap out alot of stuff(wiring harness, PCM,BCM(if you have RKE/SKS)). lokk here http://forum.2gn.org/viewtopic.php?t=3048 for all your needed info.

You can wire it up without a WOT switch if you like.

You don't need a tach adapter with that switch. It has a two cylinder mode that reads our ignitions properly.

Hey grindpunk... Can you repost the pics... I toke out the 18mm bolts (think its 5 of them) out already and I think there's still one more... The brackets moves but doesn't come out yet...

So I think the pics will basically point me in the right direction...

Thanxs in advance..

I know holy post resurection. I have a few questions. First does anyone have a walkthrough for a VAFC install? Need anything else with this type of install? Did you guys hook up your brake booster lines? If not did it effect anything? Did you plug it up, if so with what?
Thanks.

if it was just wired with the rpm switch it would open at the set rpms regardless of me being at WOT or not?

Yep, what ever RPM the switch is set for, it will activate the butterfly motor at that RPM/range. The throttle position will have no bearing on it.
