Rear 1 / pn 54116 $43~
Rear 2 / pn 52148 $33~
Total $ 232 WO/ Muffler

Dynomax 1G 2.5" Piping Kit
Front / pn 45526 $36~
Rear / pn 44208 $46~
Total $82 WO/ Muffler

Dynomax 1G&2G MIXANDMATCH 2.5" Piping Kit
1G Front / pn 45526 $36~ (requires you to cut a portion off to use the 2G rear)
2G Rear 1 / pn 54116 $43~
2G Rear 2 / pn 52148 $33~
Total $79 WO/ Muffler WO/ 2nd Rear piece
Total $112 WO/ Muffler W/ 2nd Rear piece

I ordered from Jegs (special order, took 2 weeks to get it)
$78.98 SHIPPED
Summit is a few bucks cheaper on the piping, but they're handling fee and extra fees to delivery it make Jegs the better option. Both companies have to order the parts, as they do not keep them in stock (.. retards)

I got my flex from Exhaust Depot for around $52 shipped, had him weld on a 3 bolt 2.5" collector flange.
I got my 2.5" cutout from Jegs for $23~ shipped (came with 3 gaskets and 2 collector flanges)
I got my 2.5" Dynomax from Jegs for $78.98 shipped (took 2 weeks tho, special order)
And I got a eBay Stainless Steel Apex'i N1 style muffler for $40, but im prolly gonna add a 28 or 26" Glasspack from Advanced Auto (about the same shipped from Jegs or Summit, but returnable if i dont need it)

dawm, you sure you got the right part number listed for the pic you provided??

Image

called up summit and they said that that piece thats lower in the pic is WLK-52148, not 54116 like you mentioned.... just wondering because i cant stand not having a muffler anymore so i order the 2.5" camaro muffler and that rear piece of the b-pipe... came to ~$142 shipped

yeah the 2g pipnig kit is 3 pieces, mid pipe, rear and bend to muffler, the mid pipe is way overpriced due to the addition of the flexpipe (no idea why they added one, as its 2 1/4")

also its cheaper to buy it from JEGS because they dont charge an extra fee for the piping (i think summit wanted $6 more to ship the piping) i got mine from jegs, and arrived via fedex with no problems (other then the wait time, they usually dont have it instock, so they have to order it)

POST REVIVAL

Ok, lemme get this straight, to use this mix and match system, you only need the 1gn front section and the 2, 2gn rear sections?

what about just a 90 degree bend and some straight 2.5 piping from the muffler shop? Would be the same, yes?

Ok, let me know!!! :)

just get an SRT mid pipe, replace the resonators with a straight pipe then go from there.....
My mid pipe costed me $8 roughly, free SRT mid and the purchase of a straight pipe to replace the resonators from NAPA. The over the rear suspension piece was OEM, and from there back was custom...

I am going with 2.5" though - isnt SRT 2.25?? Maybe not? Anywho, if I got he srt midpipe route, I might as well just have my muffler guy hook it up with a 2.5" straight pipe about 3 ft long then weld in the 90* bend and then attach the 2 other sections - has to be cheaper than buying the 1gn piece instead and hacking it up.

Also, I would assume that from header it starts out as 2.25 out of the cat, then if I go to 2.5" back to stock muffler, woud that create any bottle necks, bad backpressure, etc? I am thinking about posting this in the general question...

I've got a stupid, stupid question to ask to ressurect this post, but it needs to be asked. Do the ends of the dynomax pipes flare so you can attach one to the other with clamps, or does it all need to be welded together? (I'm asking because where I live, unless you know someone, welding costs a ridiculous amount more than elsewhere.)
I know I'll have to get the last part welded to my muffler, but as for the rest, what's the verdict? I'd think not, because if it's the same stuff they use in the catback system, it should be clampable, since that uses clamps. Just checking though.

clamps, i had mine clamped until i got to the exhaust shop to have it welded. but clamps will do just fine if thats all you have access to.. just make sure they are tight as hell.. we thought mine were but no.. slipped a bit by the time i got home =p

Pick up some flat band clamps, these are a little bit more pricey, but are a cleaner install and they wont crush the pipe like regular clamps will....

another thread resurrection...

so a cut first gen piece, w/ the 2 2nd gen pieces works for us... great :)

now how about mufflers :( i have a flowmaster 80 series crossflow muffler right now (camaro muffler), and while i love the tone...i'm getting very tired of the constant droaning on the highway...

any suggestions? deep mellow tone w/o having to crank up my music in a failed attempt to drown out the exhaust?

and no, resonators / glasspacks wont work...i have 2 18" glasspacks in the mid pipe already, doesnt do a damn thing for it, lol

^ Magnaflow Oval, got one on my car, very little to no drone on the highway and a nice deep tone, no raspiness. Plus its fully Stainless. :)

The Only thing I have for recording sound is my digital camera, and i've tried to make an exhaust vid before, but its so distorted it dosen't sound anything like the exhaust.

I'm probably going with a flowmaster 50 series suv muffler...i dont like magnaflow's sound. i currently have a flowmaster 80 series, and a buddy of mine has the magnaflow equivilant on his first gen r/t....sounds completely differant, higher pitched tone, etc...

flowmaster rates the differant muffler series that they have based on exterior sound level and interior noise resonance...the 50 suv is one of the 3 quietest series they have, with the 70 and 50 big block being the other 2...(of which, neither are available in the config i'de need, being 2.5 in, 2x2.25 out)

and for those that need to make a custom rear setup.....

pretty good pricing on full mandrel bends in different sizes, bend radii, and material... as we all know, mandrel bends are the best :)

so the flex pipe is not really needed on the exhaust? cuz when you use the first gen one you dont get that.

Edit: If you replace the cat with a Magnaflow, it has a flex like the one in the 2gn midpipe instead of the style that the OEM cat uses, which is more for minor flexing than anything else. But if you are retaining the OEM cat, them I would recommend getting at least a clamp-on flex pipe. It is still cheaper than buying the 2gn midpipe.

Rock Auto also carries the 1gn/2gn dynomax pipes for about $18 less (total for all 3) than Summit, but I haven't researched the shippng charges for an accurate comparision.

http://www.rockauto.com/

Edit: With shippng/handling etc, Rock Auto is $32 cheaper to my address. And it would prolly be faster.

Can't you just make the drive to Akron or whatever? Or does Summit still not have it in stock?

They still don't stock them, so it's a $6.50 handling charge on each piece, plus $10 shipping. So that's a $28 bump in price. They loose.

Does anyone know a Canadian site that can mix and match the 1g and 2Gn fronts and rears for these prices cuz the shipping prices from the states is a couple hundred bucks which is retarded.
I'm really just looking for a cat back. Also I'm running an 01 RT which comes with the stock short tube header so I've read. Would it really be beneficial for me to go to the long tube header? Or should I just stick with what I got and focus my coin on other upgrades? I already plan on going from the 2 1/4 stock (I think) to 2 1/2 from the cat back at least. And I really wanna find a good performance muffler thats not a fart can and not super annoying or loud. Any suggestions??

I thought R/Ts had 21/2" piping stock... As far as mufflers go, I love the sound of my Thermal R&D. They are discontinued though.

Pretty sure its 2 1/4 cuz i measured a while ago was just gonna throw a fart can on that i had lying around the garage cuz my muffler is rotted out and the exhaust just sounds horrible. Doesn't do my homemade CAI justice. But then I remembered how much I hate retards that just throw fart cans on there civics and think they are race car drivers. I could never let myself be one of those guys.
