Which bolts? If you're having problems removing the knuckle you can just leave it on and swap everything in front of it.

i got it. it was the really long ones right at the hub or whatever you call it i ended up taking off the long bolt that is on the frame holding the control arm to the car.

ok i know the answer is in here some where i remember seeing it some where on 2gn and its 1 in the morning and im tired so i just need a yes or no answer here we go. Does the srt4 brake line fit on a 2002 neon? i really hope someone says yes and means it lol they look the same but i dont know if the threads are the same. thanks for helping me out.

I believe the rears are the same. The fronts are slightly different, but will still work.

I smell my next project, been dying to swap to rear discs since i rolled my car off the lot with 21 Miles on it. Just gotta find a wrecked SRT somewhere.... got more parts i want to swap out

Hey sorry to bump this, but I just got done with my rear SRT disc swap, and for some weird reason, my tail lights don't light up when I press the brake pedal. It does light up when I turn on the parking lights, but it doesn't light up when I brake. So now my car isn't street legal.

Can anyone tell me why the hell this happened? Other than the brake fluid hose, and the E-brake cable, I saw an electrical wire coming out of the brakes. Should this wire be plugged into anything or just cut it off?

Just swapping the rear assy's shouldn't have done anything to the wiring to the lights.

Did you do anything with the master cylinder, or brake booster? The brake light switch may have been damaged if it was disturbed. There is a procedure for setting the new ones, and the switch is supposed to be replaced if removed. Some ppl do not replace it, and just reset it, IIRC.

Can I use stock 15 inch wheel with rear disc conversion? I use that wheel for winter...

^Basic answer - yes. However, there is a lot more than just the disc that slows the car down. The disc itself is one part of a much more complex system.

You need disc ebrake cables for disk brakes, and drum cables for drum.

I believe the front SRT brakes have clearance issues with 15" wheels, but the rears will work fine.

i didnt read in the post, but can you buy the assemblies at an auto parts store like autozone to replace all of this if you can not find the parts in a junk yard.

would anybody happen to know off the top of their heads what (hand)tools i would need to bring with me to remove the knuckle/brake swap off an SRT? im goin friday to remove them and need 2 bring tools,would like to have all the right tools. THANKS in advance for any help

The axle nut will be the most uncommon tool. I forgot what size it is.

pretty sure 30 is the front. Working on getting my parts list together and my 30mm did not fit on the rear. 32 rear, but will check in the next few days anyways. lol

I started a thread in the suspension/brakes section regarding drums.

However, due to cost, I am gonna' try this mod but, I have many questions that weren't definitively answered in this thread, or that one....yet.

Hoping you guys could offer some help.

I was planning to NOT use SRT-4 stuff....just because I figure there are probably more used parts available from regular rear disc neons....because there are more of them.

I believe the master has internal proportioning valves. It is the main reason for the swap. You can get away without it for a little while of course. Anything other than srt4 is the same setup. I would just unbolt everything on the knuckle in the rear. No need for an alignment if you leave the knuckle alone. You will of course need the e-brake cable and rubber lines like you said. I too am in the process of getting rear discs installed.

After doing my brakes the other day, I am thinking of changing over my drums for disks. So tired of dealing with springs not catching or pads being so thick or etc., etc!
This thread has gotten me to look for rear disc parts now and will post an update once I get them.

thank you for the how-to. this was quite helpful with my build. unfortunately I broke both of those bolts in the rear lateral... not a good day... they're about $40 from the chrysler garage... not cheap. couldn't even find a grade 8 bolt to fit it... oh well... the results were definitely worth it. if only I could keep the parking brake adjusted. it seems to go out of adjustment every other month...

Reading through this and seeing lots of mention of the SRT rear knuckles requiring spacers - would using the rear disc setup from an R/T be any different?
