Does this part work on an 04 SXT?

I need to know this ASAP as i'm shredding my tires as well. Big pain in the butt.

Help! :banghead:

Yes,

since you have a 2004 - %99 that the problem is NOT your inners, unless you hit a curb or something....

how many miles on your 04?

look for something else like outer tie-rod or ball joint first...even control arm bushings (the first thing to go usually) will affect and ruin your alignment and eat-up your tires....

good luck

I was told by multiple mechanics that it was in fact the inner tie rod. My sister hit a curb when she was driving my car, so I suspect that that's what caused it.

I'll go ahead and order these ASAP.

So i'm a little confused with the part numbers, I'm going to replace both of the stock tie rods, with the #ev403 firm feel ones. What confuses me, is that the partsamerica site says "Tie Rod End" is this the inner tie rod, or is it the outer tie rod. I need this clarified for me, so I can get this thing fixed. Appreciate it.

I am the thread reanimator muahahahaha. Acutally just wanted to add that I just did this for the second time, and something that will REALLY help you out is the fact that you can fit a pair of vice grips (or in my case an adjustable wrench since I was replacing aftermarket parts) in from above, while sitting to the side of the car. Also, the firm feel inners require the R/T steering rack. If you don't have an R/T, don't get them as they're too long. They don't make the steering feel firm, the rack does. Sorry.

So I have most of the same issues... My Inner Tie Rod is all bent to hell. (I smoked a curb in a snow storm) I have the new Tie Rod... But I am having huge troubles getting the damn thing off. I tryed Vise Grips as stated above, but no luck on removing it. As far as putting a new/used steering rack I don't have the tool's to do so. I want to try and not have to remove the K fram if possibe.

They are threaded into the rack. You need to unscrew them.

Some time in the (hopefully) near future, I might take my rack apart, and host some pics for this thread...

Replaced my inner yesterday evening, Getting the old one off wasn't such as issue, a big pair of mole grips and negotiating the minimal space had it off in about 10 minutes.

getting the new one off is a bit more tricky, certainly not enough room to get a big adjustable wrench in there to tighten her up.

i'm thinking a crowfoot might be the only option
