ok i have the kx1200.1 and the 300.4 , the 1200 powers up and everything but there is no sound and the 300.4 worked fine for a whole day after i installed it , i shut my car off and the next morning the protection was on i'd really rather not send these amps in to kicker so is there anyone on here that can tell me what to look for inside??

did your remote wire touch your ground wire while on and in the terminal, if that happened your amp is screwed. otherwise recheck all grounds, and other connections and if that doesn't work and you still have a warranty take advantage of it and get your amps fixed. Some other reasons for an amp to go into protect mode has to do with faulty wiring inside the amp. But if you are getting nothing from either amp I am willing to bet that the problems lies somewhere in the install, not with the amps.

it's not the wires because i have another amp hooked up and it works fine , its only a 400 watt amp , kicker said it would be between 30 and 65 bucks to fix my 1200 so i think i'm just gonna send it in

Take out the cap (carefully!), it just adds another load to your alternator and could possibly be the reason it's doing this.

i dont think his cap is a problem at all. if a cap isnt charged it wil not allow current to flow more than half the time meaning your amps will not come on at all. it doesnt work as a flow through. more than likely your amps have something wrong with them.it could be alot of things to consider. more than half the time if you are within the manufactures warranty guidelines you can send it back and get it fixed. here the best case scenario to do. hook up both amps. now take a speaker if you got one laying around. touch your speaker leads to see if it puts out sound.do NOt have any of your subs or interiors hooked up doign this. if it does put out sound then you might have somethign wrong with your speakers inside the car. same goes with your sub amp. if it puts out to the test speaker then you have somethign wrong sub wise. i hop ethis helps you a lil bit.

Also what subs and what voice coils do they have? i believe the 1200watt kickers unless its the SX i think is only able to go down to 2ohm.

it's stable at 1 ohm , that's where it puts out the 1200 watts and i had 2 15 inch L5s in a sealed enclosure pointing directly up at my trunk, i miss bumpin this hard my windshield was flexing ATLEAST an inch maybe more if i ever get my amp fixed i'll post a video
